97 tbird not charging

system is not charging have new batt. and alt. son hooked up batt. backwards. you can charge batt. car will run for a short time then die.

Take the alternator back and have them test it. They may give you a new alternator. Just don't tell them the battery was connected backwards!

check on the side of power distribution center under the hood (where all the fuses are) theres a 100 amp fuse bolted to the side probably blew when hooked up backwards

If you find the 175A fuse is blown I would still have the alternator tested since a few diodes or regulator are probably toast, also.
