Constant Squeaking From Brakes = ??

This has been annoying me since I bought the car and now I intend to stop it. When I bought it, the dealer threw in new brake pads and turned the rotors. Ever since then I get chirping from the wheels while driving and it stops when I hit the brakes. Now could that be caused by the pads being cheap? or is it because i'm missing anti-squeal shims or an equivalent? I just don't want to buy pads all around if it's not gonna stop this problem.

Its because you need new pads. There are metal tabs that scrap your rotor when they need to be replaced(the metal on metal sound you are hearing). I sugest you do it soon before the pads wear down to the rivits. If they get that low you will distroy your rotors.

No, thats the thing I don't get, there's plenty of pad left, the squealers aren't close to touching.

My guess it's because the rotor surface is fresh and here is why:
On a disc brake setup the pads are actually always in contact with the rotors. What is happening is when you let off the brakes the drag on the pads is causing the "grab/release" cycle on the pads and because there is no pressure on the pads there is enough room for it to vibrate.
It will probably go away after the pads get "bedded in" but if they are really crappy pads they may never "bed in" properly...
FYI: metallic pads are more prone to this then carbon/ceramic...

Well that would make sense...but this was a year and a half ago that the pads were put in, my fault didn't mention. That's what the dealer had told me, they just need to wear in...but like you said maybe they just never will "bed in" properly.

I have the exact same problem, but mine squeaks more right after i start driving the car, then when it heats up after a few uses it goes away. but everytime i go out to the car to go somewhere it does it until it warms up. And brand new pads were just put on and I got them checked too because of the squeaking.

Any vibrations can cause squealing. On other cars I've worked on, I've found that sometimes they just need more anti-squeal lub. Sometimes the shims or the caliper bolts just vibrate...and cause a similar squeal...try put some anti-squeal lub on, it's worked for me in the past sometimes.
