Head lights turn on and off

I have a 1972 Super Beetle and my head lights turn on and off by themselves. I have no idea why this is happening. I already checked the fuses but i dont know what else it can be. When Im driving I turn them on and they will stay on for a short while then turn off and then turn back on again. Does anybody know what the problem is?

check the fuses and the holder for the fuse sounds like they are heating up may need to sand the fuse holders till they are bright copper again.

Probability is that the contacts in the headlight switch are burned. The typical situation is that after you've had the lights on for a short period of time...say about 30 minutes?....the lights will go off. After about 10 seconds or so (the time will vary) the lights come back on. The only cure is to replace the switch.
