I don't know how much an owner's manual would help but a service manual is usually a lot more helpful. If you're interested in that, you could get one from www.manualcd.com
As far as the tire pressure goes, the stock rating for my '94 SL is 32 PSI up front and 29 in the back. I have it set at 33 for the front and 30 in the back though because it looks kinda flat when it's all stock. I don't know if those will be the specs for you since you have a '97 and 17 inch wheels because mine are 16. But yeah, hope that semi-helps...

There is generally a plaque on the driver's door jam that has recommended tire pressures, based on stock wheels. Tires shouldn't throw it off too much. I also say experiment a bit, I found I prefer a bit more pressure than the manufacturers recommendations in my vr4...but that is just me..

Hey this reminds me of a question ive been meaning to ask. On my VR4 (93) it says 60psi on the door plaque. That cant be right......right? I asked my dad, a mechanic, and he looked at it, scratched his head, and sait not to put more than 35 in. Anyone else have a 93 vr4? what does your say?
oh and btw, it should say recommended pressure on the sidewall shouldnt it?

sounds like you are reading the spare tire presure, instead of the front and rear presures. Should be 32 and 28
