Performance Intake on 88

So I've been having a lot of trouble with my car lately. I just found out that there's a hole...or what looks more like a slash in my intake. I was planning on getting a performace air intake anyway. So now I have an excuse. I was checking it out today and it looks like my censor is half of my filter box. I guess what my question is is there anyway I can put a performance air intake on an 88. I was thinking about finding someway to trick the censor so it thinks it knows the air temp but I don't really know how. If you have any ideas or know where I can find an intake that would work please let me know. My boyfriend bought his intake for $40 and I was told my stock one would be about $100 and I really don't want to spend $100 on a stock one but I'm willing to spend that on performance. Ideas, suggestions, tips. Let me know!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Can't you just fix the crack in your intake with some sort of sensor-safe sealant from an autoparts store?
Your money is better off spent on something other than an intake. They give very little if any performance increase.

Check your motor mounts. A crack in the intake may mean your engine is moving more than it should when you accelerate.

heres what your looking for

you will need to get a short peice of hose to go from the intake to the mass air flow sensor, you should be able to pick it up relatively cheaply and you dont need much

all she needs is the adapter plate, she can go to the parts store and buy a good filter, along with the short hose she would need

Hey Cactuar, I will build you an intake if you can help me figure out how to build one on your car... I have a guy who really wants one, so I was gonna start producing them. I have some adapter plates, piping and everything that would be necessary, if you can help me figure it out, I'll do it for free. PM me if interested. I can send you pics of my other intakes if you wanna see my work.

If i was gonna mass produce that hood I just might have given one out for free... small sacrifice. But, hey why are you complaining???? That was a fine deal? Anyways, if anyone else here has a 4th gen and has an intake or wants one I am open to suggestions. :)

what about the 87's? I just bought an expensive filter because my new mass air flow sensor won't bolt to the old air box, could you build me one for free? custom intake that is

Yeah, contact me at [email protected]. If you can help me get a template put together on how to build one I'll do it. E-mail me whenever or IM me through AOL IM, or MSN IM, my msn e-mail ID is the same as above.

here's my intake. If anyone wants directions or anything because it is a little bit tricky to get on. The MAF sensor is what was so difficult and making it fit without sitting ontop of my battery.

Looks pretty good. I just used a piece of straight exhaust pipe and the coupling from my supra and painted it. it sit just next to my battery. I'm relocating the battery to the trunk to make room for my cold air intake.
