Another rust problem...

Ok I'm getting surface rust just below the front passenger door on the kickpanel. I put the car in the garage, sand it down to bare metal and remove all of the rust. Then I re-primer the car with two coats, and then use an automotive spraypaint from Autozone to match the color with the rest of the color (faded frost white ;) ) The rust seems to just keep coming back though. Any suggestions on how I can permanently get rid of it?

Cut it out, weld in new metal, spray with rust proofer, primer it, then paint. If you don't cut out all the rust or you don't use some kind of rust proofer on the bare metal; it will keep coming back.

well yeah, but it depends on how deep the rust is.

As far as I can tell it's just surface rust. I sanded it down to bare shiny metal then reprimerd it. I'll look at Autozone on the way home from work tomorrow for rustproofing stuffs. Thanks guys :)

Use Krylon rust-proof primer. It works 10x better than Dupont.
