Hey, I was wondering if anyone could help me out. I have an 85 GM Pickup, that is now wrote off, you guys might laugh, but it was a boating accident. It was parked out on the front street and a passer byer was towing a boat. To make a long story short the boat came off the trailer, and smacked the truck. The truck has alot of sentimental value to my girlfriend, so I wanna get it fix up for her. I want to fix it up better than before so I am currently looking for a engine for it. Currently it is a 5.0L V8 4BBL/4BBL FI, it doesn't have to be this exact engine, I wouldn't mine bigger. I wouldn't mine a crate engine , anyone know where I could start to look? In Canada is where I would rather get it from but if I can't and there is somewhere in the states that has good prices that would be awesome. Thanks everybody for your help, ahead of time!!

Your truck can use a small block chevy. Theoretically, any small block chevy made from 1955 to the 90's will fit.
For somplicity's sake, I would suggest a Chevy 350 from '68 through '87. There are literally thousands of engine builders who can supply one.
There are also countless hundreds of performance parts available for these engines and can be built from a stock engine to al all-out race machine. Your budget is the only determining factor.
I would suggest to find a quality engine builder in your home town and discuss your needs; and they can build an engine to suit your budget and the use you have in mind.
You can buy a terrific crate engine over the counter from a local GM dealer or over the internet, but an engine builder may be cheaper and can custom tailor the engine to your needs.
One key point is the intake system you would like to use, if you want to retain the stock system (cheaper) or go with a higher performance set -up (more money)
