E Fan Question - Rilth??

I know this will probably start a pissing match on e fans but here it goes anyway. I need a little help from someone who's done this... I've collected almost all the parts and have mapped out the job, only I can't figure out where to splice the wire on the A/C compressor. I read that (I think from Rilth) that it should hook into the green wire but which one? There are 2 plugs into the compressor - 1 on top and 1 on the back. Both have one green wire in them. What is the best way to splice into it? Should I use the plastic wire splices(not sure what they're called but you put them over the wire, squeeze and a small pin cuts through the casing into the wire) or to strip the case back and then heat shrink it?

Also, what do you think of this thermostat??? It's the last piece I need. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ADJUSTABLE-COOLING-FAN-THERMOSTAT-32-248-DEGREES_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33600QQitemZ799 5758500QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

On your AC compressor is a 2 line plug on the front (closest to the pully), splice into the green wire. (Double check with a multimeter that 12v is traveling through that when you hit your AC)

As to the BEST way, strip back about a 1/2" of covering, using an all make a hole between the wire , then stripping 3/4" of covering off the wire from the relay run it through (like a thread through a needle) then wrap around. Now either tape or heat shrink it. This is the most reliable type of connection outside of soldering. Or you can use T-taps

I've seen a couple of different styles - some use relays and some don't. Do I need another relay? I'll be using your diagram.

yup - got that. I see several thermy kits that come with relays- for extra $$. I shouldn't need that if I'm already running 2 relays - correct??

you will only need 1 addition relay since your switch comes with one and the diode.

OK this is the face of a pissed-off boy! I got all the stuff together and came home. I did it my memory(I should know better). 1st I got the wrong diode (1amp/600v) then could only find 4 tab relays so I thought I must be dreaming about the 5 tabs - even went toAdvance Auto and Radio shack(for reference) and could only find 4's. I got the thermy for $20 bucks though! I guess I'm not going to get this done tomorrrow since I can't justify wasting the gas to go into town. I checked on Ebay and found 5 tab relays from Bosch but they aren't sealed so I'm not sure about them.

Where else should I look for them??????

Stop at any local place that sells keyless entry/alarm systems. They will have the 5 wire relays. a 1 amp/600v diode should suffice.

Disappointment sets in... Got it all hooked up - double and triple checked set-up and connections but the damn thing just wouldn't run. I'm thinking I may have a bad relay. How do I test them?

Have you checked the fan itself? tap the wires direct to the battery and see if it comes on

Yup - Checked it when I pulled it from the bone yard and again during installation to see what wire controlled what.

Ok - stupid question. There are 2 studs on the firewall with braided unshielded cables attached to them. These are grounds - correct?
