Sup guys and to all nissan owners...Gotta Love em.Well first off I got a 1992 nissan240sx Super Heicas. If most of you dont know thats the 4 wheel steering system.Well For the past year I have been left In a decision of an sr20Det or turbocharging the ka24de to a ka24det ofcourse.Well ofcourse recognizable the Sr20det takes more labor but considering my dads hurt bad and cant do the swap for me and My engine has 140K miles on it and is showing signs of weakness.I was considering buying a Ka24de from a junk yard and the tranny.Well Honestly I can keep the engine In my basment. But do you guys think this would be a bad Idea.Rebuilding the block to regain compression and while Im at it lowering it by adding forged pistons n rings crank and sleeving the block.Doing a high performance headgasket.then maybe I can extend into rebuilding the tranny and ofcourse doing a stage 3. 6 puck act clutch with a lightend flywheel to free up Hp.And doing an electric fan sice the crank driven one does not work so well plus an electric fan will free up horsepower. Also by adding higher performanced radiator for better cooling.Doing some simple bolt on mods such as Intake headers exhaust and Cams n cam gears Pulleys Intake manifold and while I have the engine ripped apart maybe port n polish the heads.Plus doing some increased flow injectors and maybe a fuel rail if im seriously crazed possibly go for an upgraded ecu.Well also since I have the stronger internals from the pistons rings crank and sleeved block possible spray like a 60 shot or even 100 shot of nos since The internals could handle 15 psi's or even 18 with all the aftermarket forging. But since I will slowly be slapping all this on the engine in the basment possibly doing a brake upgrade.Do you guys honestly think this car would be slow or even push in the 13s with the all motor mods and spray and possible sit on some tires???Please write back Id love some feed back on my Idea...My friend jeff says If Im gonna spend all that money I might as well do an Sr20det which will give me 220 rwhp stock no mods and it revs higher..But considering the Ka24 is no whore and is strong and ofcourse a torque monster would a Na Monster 240 be such a harmfull Idea???

First thing that comes to mind. Your Friend Jeff doesnt know what hes talking about and you should stop listening to him.
Next. your post is one giant wishlist. Having all that stuff would result in having a KA that with a properly sized turbo would probably have around 550WHP. Moving on... since you belived your friend Jeff Im gonna go out on a limb and say your nowhere near ready enough to build a 550WHP motor in your basement. So... you can either pull your KA apart, clean it up, throw some pistons and rods in and then wait for a Turbo Kit. or you can get an SR. which would prolly cost less than a Rebuild / Turbo KA and and is much easier to do than rebuild a KA in your basement.
Lastly. You need to learn what needs to be replaced and when... otherwise you'll just have a car thats got every part but the one it needs to go fast.

you sound like you have atleast some knowledge about what you're talking about which is more than i can say for some people that post here.
i would have to say that you should rebuild the internals and the turbo it, you will not get into the 13's with the mods you just listed....
dude, i wish i had a bacement/garage....
my engine would be on a stand all winter, and id clean the shit out of it and make it perfeeecttt. you have a good oportunity here, because it sounds like your dad is willing to help you with things.
rebuild + turbo = you will and i repeat will kick the shit out of almost anything on the street, if your setup is a good one.... search this forum and ka-t.org and nicoclub.com to find good turbo setups.

i'm not sure where to go with this.. i agree with both you guys. it'll be about $6000 to have the setup you want with your ka, and $3000 for an sr doing 220whp.. you'd have to add a couple of things to your sr to get the extra hp (stock is about 160whp on a redtop)..
as far as n/a goes, yeah thats a good idea too..definitely not as expensive as the turbo ka or sr.. raise the compression to maybe 12:1, clean it all up, new cams, fuel system.. i'm not completely sure what else you'd need but you'd be pretty quick

Intercooler, exhaust and boost controller will get 220whp on an otherwise stock SR.

yeah, so that setup might cost around $4000 instead of 3
