I have an '85 T-bird and just the other day the fuel pump up and died on me the other day, and I just thought that it finally just gave up after who knows how long. So I went out and bought an new one, and after much work got it put in and I was ready to start the car, but I got nothing I got no familiar click and no hum from the pump. So I had my dad check the wires with his voltage tester and there was no power going to the pump. So we then traced out the fuel pump relay to see if maybe it was shot it wasn't it work fine. there was absolutely no power going to the relay we even check all the wiring going to the relay but can't find any thing wrong. Can anyone give me an Idea as to what to do or what the problem might be?

you should have 1 constant(all the time) hot(positive) terminal, and 1 key switch hot(positive) to the relay, 1 gound signal wire, and 1 positive signal to pump. the two positive wires to the relay should have fuses near the power source(under hood electrical center and/or under dash fuse panel)

i am also having the same problem with my 89 thunderbird. at first it started jerking like i wanted to cut off then ran ok for an hour or so, then it just died. replaced the fuel pump before checking anything, put it all together and still nothing. i get a click sound from the relays but no hum from the pump. i reversed the 2 relay on the firewall and still nothing. check the connection to the relay and had 12 volts and the intera switch in the truck had 9 volts but no power to the pump, now heres the kicker. i plug up my scan tool to the car, the pump works fine and the car will run fine but as soon as i unplug the scanner, the car dies and the pmc starts beeping under the dash. scan tool didnt give any code neither.
anyone dare to tackle this one?
if any, thanks for the help.
broken down and frustrated.
