Considdering putting power windows in my hatchy. Saw that AutoLoc has the kits, just wondering if anyone has done this, and what I'm getting myself into if I try to do it myself...

im doing it on my car now...only im useing the JDM ones with no instructions...so its kinda hard. But i think if you got the autoloc kit it would be real easy to install

Do they have kits for power locks also?

Dude these power window kits are $400, for $400 i will roll down my windows all damn day. I want Keyless entry though.

Yeah, they're spendy, but WTF... I hate having to lean all the way over the passenger seat to roll down the passenger window... AutoLoc has the door lock upgrade kits for $75. I'll probably do that too...

I'm also trying to figure out a way to use some kind of actuators on the rear side windows. That'd be cool instead of having to pop the hatch every time you wanna open/close 'em.

You guys didn't get my write up??? I wrote a big ass write up on how to install power windows in a 4th gen hatch. Owell if anyone needs help you can ask me i forgot a lil cuz i put mine in like a year ago. the autoloc kits are easy to install but they roll up and down really slow that's why i opted for oem!!

Dodge Caravans have those in their back quarter windows...rip one from a junkyard and let us know how it went ;-)

And you should also just steal some power windows from an LX or EX. - my $0.02

Yeah, Iv also thought long and hard about this.

Theres an old model Mazda MX6 sold here that had them, but the mechanism is actualy quite big and it wouldnt fit in the back of a 4g.

OMG - what options did your 4Gs come with? I keep hearing no power windows, no power steering, no power mirrors, no clock (WTF!!!)... umm did they come with tyres? :p

We got all of the above plus casette player/AM/FM radio in our GLs (only 4G sold here), only Air-Con was an option and every GL I've seen seems to have that.

Hehe - my SiR even came with factory keyless entry so I can't complain.

I should be able to track down the electric window systems easily enough. Dunno about price or shipping though. Exactly the same as the JDM ones (our cars were built in Japan for the Aussie market) so the only issue is that the master control will be on the wrong door.

WTF?
What did it come with a brick attached to the key ring or something?

I have never ever seen any pre 95ish Japanese car with factory keyless entry.

Well, central locking anyway. My alarm is wired into it to give it keyless entry ;)

I'm pretty sure the CL is factory - the actuators have a silver Honda sticker on them with a seial no or something - I had the trim off the driver's door to fix a rattle and did check the actuators as they are playing up now and then and not disengaging all the time. FYI, a friend's Nissan 260C came with it too and that was late 70s-early '80s. Then again, the 260 came with everything, it was in the family since new and had power windows as well as some other neat stuff. Hell, we got the sucker to 200km/h on a long road - nice beast it was :)

For instruction on the power windows check this link: http://www.hondacrx.co.uk/ go to the downloads section and download the 2 manuals. It's a EDM ZC and SiR manual (in english), great info, power windows are explained in detail. A must have for everyone with a ZC or B16.

btw moppie, my SiR also has central locks with remote :finger: ;)

I think the vehicle specific kits do...but not the universal..they're supposed to be really simple.

I just put power windows in from a 4G 4D. Some body get me a pick of the inside of a door with the door panel off and I will circle the bolt holes you need to use. They are already drilled. Other that that all you have to do is switch the tracks-both of them.

Yes the Central locking is quite common in the SiR's and Sis' (although mine dosnt have it, but its still faster than yours. :p ).
However having an alarm hooked up to it dosnt exactly count as factory remoke locking.
