Differences between 79 Formula suspension and WS6

I have a 1979 Firebird Formula with a 403 olds, it has been converted to right hand drive (I live in Australia) But I am wondering about the differneces between suspension of formula and WS6. Is it major suspension parts, or more fine tuning with harder springs/shocks?
Also is there a recommended drum-to-disc conversion for the rear? I'd rather do it right first time.
This is a bit off the point, tho I have wanted to change the hood to Trans-Am type, and have found a functional scoop like that of the 1972 Trans-Ams.. I am wondering what sort of modifications need to be made to the air box to suit.. would a 72 airbox be nesessary or even possible? There was no 403 in 72 so would that therefor mean I'd need a custom job made up?

the springs were different from model to model.depending on the engine with or without a/c they all had different ratings. sway bars also came in different sizes. your best source to contact for replacement springs as well as info is a company called eaton detroit springs. also to be found on the net. they produce ACCURATE springs for those cars and are recommended by magazines like Hot Rod, Car Craft, etc.Can' t find a better place to get springs from.
Rear discs have been available from the factory for birds since 1979.so you could search for a complete rear axle with rear disc setup. or you can keep your axle housing and get separate items. in that case you need the axles (different length then drum axles), the calipers discs, backing plate and such. there are also conversion kits out.i believe wilwood is one supplier.
as to your scoop question. those were different also, so you might need to modify some...

This sounds to be a good option, Thanks. I'll be giving the springs a replacement, and if these are the way to go, then it will be done. I would like to replace the drums, I guess what it comes down too in the end is which setup will give the best overall braking performance and driveability of the drum-disc conversion and axle change scenario.
As with an airbox shold I be trying to just modify what I have or blend a 72 and 79 together? I might have a loom around and see if I can find any major differences that will require a 72 to merge..

I'll have to start moving towards some performance mods when I have this baby handling even more supremely than that of what she already does.. :)

when pontiac introduced the rear disc they had the best stopping power in 79 and for their time. i already did a conversion on mine with factory parts and i'm very, and i mean very happy with it.if you don't want to change the diff, i'd just slide out the axles and change the rest.
about the scoop, i'd probably get a scoop that came with a 403 olds and try and get that installed. the hood opening on a 72 is different though than the other years, as far as i know. earlier scoops were a bit more roundish...so i guess you have to try and see.and if you want to replace the springs contact the source i told you. tell them all the specs your car has and they will match the best springs for you. they are not a one over the counter store. you'll be happy that you bought from them,guaranteed...
