setting the timming belt

the timming belt in my 1994 geo metro broke. So I replaced the belt, put it all together and tried to start it and it wont. How do I set the timming?? it is a 3 cylinder.

You should first go back and check the cam and crank pulleys. when the timing mark on the crank pulley is straight up, the timing mark on the cam pulley should also be straigt up. If not, then you need to take the belt off and do it again. If you are off a cog or two it will not start

Also note that one of the two pulleys turns twice for every one turn of the other!! Watch out for this. It confused me when I did mine last summer.
