I need help identifying a ruptured hose so I can replace it. I'll try my best to describe it.
On top of the engine, next to the intake manifold is a black circular structure which has a couple of hoses attached to it. One of the hoses, the one that faces the front grille, is torn. I need to replace it but I can't find it named or labeled in my Haynes Manual for the car.
I'd be grateful to any one who can help me. Thanks. :uhoh:

It's part of the crankcase ventillation system. It will only be available from VW, they have exploded views so you can identify it easily.

Thanks. I've been getting a "gassy" (like gasoline) smell when running the heater or opening the air vent. I noticed that the smell around the tear in the hose smelled the same. Could a new hose solve this problem?

Yes it should. The intake for the interrior vents is on the passenger side cowl pannel under the wipers. Its problably sucking in the smelly odor from the engine bay.
