Hey Guys!

Im new to this Fourm so ill take the Newbie title, but all or you guys seem real cool so im sure ill feel right at home.

Now to my Question I know that the AB FLUG Kit goes in and around 10,000-12,000 depending on shipping and where your getting it from, But ive found some1 that sells REPLICA kits that from what I was told are made from the SAME EXACT molds as the real kit and it made from/of quality fiberglass

So have any of you guys heard of this? I mean is it gonna be horrible quality? btw the price is $3800 so it's some that I could get and the real one is something out of my $ range..........is it gonna be "you get what you pay for" type thing?

Thanks in Advance!

I tend to not agree with replica kits. I've heard of this same thing your refuring to and it did not add up. Most of the time when you buy a part, like anything, your buying the name. It comes down to that if you feel that your up to spending the money on it, finding a body shop who's willing to do it, and painting the car, I don't really see a problem with it. Just do your work and make sure that that's what you want to do.

It really depends. A normal 4 to 5 piece body kit is not that bad, but that thing is something like 10 to 20 pieces so it could be higher.

I saw this and I couldn't help but respond.

A typical body kit installation can run you $500, say a 4 piece at the right place.

The kit isn't the expensive part though, it's the paint. A good paint job can run you upwards of $1,000 or more.

The kit installation pricing is going to be based on the ease to which the kit installs. All cars are different, some more so than others, and even though you buy the kit from the best place in the world it will need some tweeking to match production defects, etc. This problem can be compounded if the place you order it from just plain sucks. Also remember that fitment is not an excuse for a return either.

So I would say, with a replica company thats spending half as much on material and molds would probably run around $1,200 for installation.

Now the fun part is paint. Do you plan on repainting the whole car or matching your current paint? If you plan to match then you may save a couple of bucks by using a factory paint match which could also be compounded by the age of the vehicle with fading etc.

I would say you're looking at $2,000 to do the paint either way.

Then the ultimate expense is time. It'll take about a month for the whole process.

In the end the question on replica or not will be based on replica kit+labor. If lowering the replica kit price increasing the labor still adds up to be lower than original kit + labor then you may have a winner.
