Just replaced wheel bearing, now clicking.

I just replaced my front left wheel bearing today. The right was replaced a year ago. When I turn right, i hear a clicking noise, and i can kinda hear it while dring straight. On a left turn, it goes away completly. I have drivin the car 2 miles since I replaced the part.

I used the same axel nut as the new hub didn't come with one. On the box it said to torque it to 180lbs, so i did.

The only snag during the replacement, was the rotor was a bugger to get off. I had to wack it with a hammer a few times to get it off.

I also hear a bigger click, every now and then around the corners. Like something is outa place. What would it sound like, if i pulled the axel out of its joints?

The clicking sounds like the CV joint especially when you take sharp steering movements. Plus you might want to check the torque value on the axle nut. Although the replacement hub states the torque value for the replacement assembly, 180 lbs-ft. sounds a little high compared to what GM recommends.

If the click is the CV joint, what should I do (can i reajust it, or do i now need a new one?). I took the tire and rotor off and am trying to see if i could have done somethign wrong. The only thing is, maybe the axle is not far enough in the hub assembly? But i figured when I tightened the axel nut on, it would snug up the axel and hub assembly.

I see this on another forum,

*************
1"3/4 Stock Nut is torqued at 284lbs Ft.
some aftermarket Nuts will defer for example mine is only torqued at 173lbs ft. but you'll have the instructions with new hub kit
As for the 3 back bolts they are Torqued at 70lbs each
**********

Could I have tighteed the 3 back bolts to tight, my torque wrench is too bed to fit back there, i just snugged thsoe bots as much as i could with a socket.

***EDIT***

I just took it all off, and put it together again. Now when I drive, the clicking is gone. But....now it sounds ilke maybe the axel thing is lose. When i turn, i can hear it shifting around. Its not loud, and if it was an older car, its the kind of noise i'd ignore. But since this noise wasn't here before, it must be somethign I did. I'll try to describe it. Its like a simple clunk, clunk, while i turn. Its like the axel joints are not perfectly lined up. Im not sure how to check that though.

I'd have to double check the torque values. There is a CV joint on the half shaft at the tranny and one at the end of the axle with the threads for the axle nut. They are underneath the rubber protective boots. You may have to undo the boot and perform a visual inspection.

I put a new half shaft in today ($75) and no change. I still hear the clicking around corners. So if its the bearing that clicks, what can i do?

***FIXED****

I put the old bearing back on, and noise went away.

Went to a real autoparts store and bought a decent bearing/hub for $129, and put it in, and sound is gone. Too bad I didn't go there first, and then waste $75 on the half shaft.

The brand hub/bearing that was bad, was Valucraft V513137.

The new hub *does* make some clicks on corners, every now and then, but i don't think it'll hurt anything and im not going to waste any more money.
