Yes I have just bought a gsr engine for my 94 civic, i only bought the engine swap with out a tranny, i am now looking for a tranny, i would like to know what tranny would be the best to work with and also swapping, what parts would be the best to work with, wat to focus on, while figuring out the best for performance in it?? thanx

As far as performance, you probably would want the type R transmission. It has an LSD, with slightly shorter gears than the GSR transy. This will affect daily driving, you will rev higher than if you used the GSR transmission or the ls transmission. As far as fit, I can't help you there.

A ITR tranny will be best suited for you.

If you want to turbocharge i think the ITR trannys gearing is too short so a GSR or LS tranny would do good for turbo. It all depends on what you want to do with your car. F/I? N/A?

once again stop sreading rumors and lies!!!!!!
Gear ratios are merely a way to trade torque for rpm. With a higher numerical gear ratio, you are putting more rpm at the wheel. With closer gear ratios, you are able to stay at a higher rpm in between shift points. Something like the LS transmissions are suited more towards the broad torque curve/low reving LS engine. It keeps you in the peak torque area in between shifts. The ITR/SI/GSR transmissions keep the rpm's built up in between shifts, to stay in the more peaky powerband.
Having said that, for the track the itr/si tranny is the best hands down. Most high whp turbo engines are operating between 5.5-9k, and having their shift points in between. In combination with a tall slick size (24.5"+), and the high shift point (8.5-9k), you are able to keep the engine operating within the optimum torque curve.
With the LS transmission, between shifts it would possibly drop you out of the optimal powerband and therefore make you slower. Gearing simply put allows you to stay in the powerband of your engine in between shifts.
The myth that you stay in gear longer with the LS transmission makes you faster is purely false. Think about that statement for a second. Acceleration is the measure of velocity over a unit time. Watching the rpms climb on the tach during a 3rd/4th gear pull, they would be climbing slower than with the si/itr tranny. Looking at the definition of acceleration as a measure of velocity over a unit time, the engine would be getting to the same velocity over a slower time lapse. This would yield slower acceleration, and simply put make you slower.
Having said that, the gsr transmission is probably the best balance of a street/strip transmission. The gearing is a little less aggressive as the itr/si transmissions, which will yield a little more traction. For all out acceleration si/itr tranny wins hands down. For a slower car, go with the LS transmission.

:nono: LS transmission is only good for gas mileage, constant highway driving, or higher mph. If you want acceleration, then the other b's are the only options. Even with turbo, you're still losing useful acceleration with the LS.
If you want to go all out; then get aftermarket hasport mounts and LSD (as mentioned).

What do you mean? Like clutch and flywheel? Those are the only "parts" you can really get for a transmission (other than upgraded LSD).

oo really my bad my knowledge in trannys arent so great but thats why im here to learn. well as for me i personally still wouldnt get a ITR tranny because(im pretty sure this is right) the short gearing makes bad gas mileage.

thats fine but if your not 100% on somthing say so or don't post one one person knows everything. Most of your posts are pretty kickass keep it up and keep learning.
if you have a short range tranny for a long time you won't care about the milage its just ilke RRRRRRR snick RRRR snciks just fly through the gears its great heck i still do it

that can't really be done with out telling us a goal
if your just asking for what we like i'd say I've never been in my car with an ITR tranny but i bet it would rule I liked my gsr tranny but my b16 one is just silly for accelartion is kinda a pain on free way but i deal.

okay only using b-series motors and transmissions what is the best set up to work with when working with b16's b18's b'20's from si to type r's what parts are the best to fit it cause most b-seriers parts conbine im really just trying to figure out what to look for, so far i got a gsr engine but i heard of alot of things like a b16 block is stronger, and so forth so what really type of parts could i look for and will fit the gsr and give it more power than the original parts in it. so far im undisisive between getting type r cams or b20 cams same thing with pistons and rods its between the type r and b20's im looking for the best hp and performance out of it, i want to go all motor on the gsr.

So what parts do you suggest to change on the gsr for more gain of horses when going to the b-series engines only, what would work out fine and make me faster

search search search. The same info is covered every week. Cams (with valvetrain upgrades), and higher compression pistons. If you need more indepth info, then search. There are a hundred things you could do and a thousand different brands you could buy. It all depends on how much power you're looking for, how much you're willing to spend, and personal preference. search.
