Hi folks... have a '02 with the 3.8 Grand Caravan... long story short, I had initally had the p0700 and p0743 codes... kept driving, on the second day of driving... tranny "whirred" and would not allow me to move forward/reverse anymore... had ot towed to a tranny place... and had to get a new tranny. Now, I pisk up the van and the p0601 code is showing up??? Tranny guy says this is an engine thing and has nothing to do with what they did etc...
I know this is:
Internal Control Module Memory Checksum error
But what can I do about it? Could this have something to do with getting the tranny replaced.... is there something that still needs to be done? I disconnected the positive cable from the battery for 15 minutes... drove it... light stayed off... shut down the van, restarted and the light reappeared. Any ideas?

Just an Update.... keeps getting better... ends up I need a new PCM, cost will be another $900.00+ !!
Dealer claims the part (PCM) is warranteed to 80k miles.. I rolled my van in with 80068 or so... too bad... can't warranty. Gets better... I had paperwork from the transmission place, showing the P0601 code appeared when the van had 79999.8 on the odometer... still not good enough... needs to roll into their shop with 80 or less. Sorry... will cost a little over $900.00, sigh.

Look in your owners manual and get in contact with a regional office for Dodge customer relations, with the mileage that close, if the will not go ahead and do the repair under warranty, they may at least do a good will repair in which they will pick up part of the repair cost.
I also own a 98 Dodge Dakota that has had the rear end rebuilt 3 times now and its still under 80K. The last time Dodge payed for the parts and we payed for the labor. It was better than no help at all.
Keep us posted on what happens.

I agree with waltham41, Chrysler warrants the van not the dealer. For 68 miles over the 80K mark the regional service folks should take care of it for you.

Thanks folks.... I'll see what I can accomplish Tuesday... the dealer ended up "good willing" me and "only" charged me $689.00, their cost, according to the dealer... this was the wholesale price for part and labor. I'll definitely keep ya'll posted if I make any headway. Thanks again.
