Roof Rack Mounting

I recently purchased a used CON FERR roof rack for my 88 Jeep. THe seller informed me that they had this rack on an 89 and 94 Jeep Cherokee. When I tried to install it to my 88 Jeep the mounting brackets did not match up all that well. It's on but it does not look correctly mounted.
Does anyone happen to have a site (or diagram) that shows the proper installation. I found one site but it showed monuting brackets that I did not receive.. I presenly have it mounted in the ruts of the factory roof mounts, yet most pictures show it on the gutter mounts..
It looks good on top though... :-)
