Neutral Dropping?

I have a '92 automatic Lude and so does my buddy (mine is built a hell of alot more tho ; ) and he likes to rev the engine to about 4,000 rpm in neutral and then drop it into drive to peel out from a stop. I tell him that he's going to ruin his tranny in no time! but he insists that it wont do anything, he says that its just like dropping the clutch on a manual. so just to prove him wrong i wanted to post this thread...unless for some reason neutral dropping is ok to do, then i'm wrong. so feel free to be vulgar so he gets the hint ; )

Posting in a thread to prove a friend wrong is stupid as your friend is. Yeah, neuatral dropping is bad, but tell him to keep doing it till the trans fails then tell the insurence company that it crapped out by itself and use the money to get a 5-speed.
On a side note, how is your car "built a hell of alot more?" Just curious.

Lets all be cool and drop our cars in neutral and try to "peel out" with a fwd car...

he has an intake and a universal "fart can". when i got my lude it had an injector problem for some reason...so i got newer but never used RC Injectors from a buddy of mine, then i made an AEM Custom Short-Ram Intake and then bought Ractive 4-2-1 Header, Pacesetter MONZA Exhaust, Accel Spark Plug Wires, NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, Weapon R Throttle Rotor, MSD SCI+ Ignition Control, MSD Blaster SS Coil, MSD ProCap, Enkei SR-5 17" Rims, Bridgestone Potenza Tires, Megan Front Strut Tower Bar, Megan Rear Lower Tie Bar. being in college and all i cant really afford much more right now...i'd like to supercharge...but...who knows when that'll happen...

Thats not "built" You need to open up the engine for that, but still thats an impressive mod list.
BTW, Turbo all the way.

In a 4th gen, turbo for sure. Unless he feels like smashing up his firewall to shoehorn a supercharger in.

rims should never count as building your car up.
other than that not to shabby.
even dropping the clutch in a manual is bad

I've always heard that the stock ignition system in a Prelude is good for about 400 horses, so upgrading to MSD ignition without turbo or some other major hp upgrade doesn't do much since you're still only pushing out around 200 horses.
I don't know this for a fact - I just remember reading it here in one of the forums.
Bingo.

Why not? A light weight set of rims will certainly make your car faster as it reduces unsprung weight and rotational mass. Rims are an investment that goes toward building your car, so I don't see why they shouldn't be included. :2cents:

I think he meant as building the engine.
