I have a 97 Civic with 115,000 miles. I was told that I should of had my timeing belt changed around 100,000. Should I be concerned and have it changed right away?? If not how long should I wait before I get it changed??

Your already past the recommended replacment interval, change it ASAP. If you don't it could break and serious damage could occur. While your at it have the water pump replaced too.

have it change. i just recently did a first time timing belt change on a 95 gsr with 310,000 miles. the belt was still good ;) however, not recommended.

if i were to go somewhere to get this done (timeing belt and water pump), what do you guys think would be a fair price.

2 hours of your time and its done. hardest part will be the 19mm crank bolt, but, an ease with a 800lbs impact wrench or chain wrench and 2 - 4 foot breaker bar.
if you still insist on taking it to the shop. the best deal you can find locally.

ya 2 hours if u know what to do. not everyone knows how the first time. my first time took about 5 hours and that was bc of a striped tensioner bolt.id say it would of prob taken em 4 without it, otherwise now id say i could do it in 2.5 hours. and getting it changed by a garage ill cost u about 500$ id say mayb. i know i got riped off by this garage bc they charged me 30$ just to take the crank pulley bold off and lightly tighting it back on so i can get it off at home.

Shops are in business to make money, by loosening a bolt so you can do the work is a job lost for them. Our shop charges a minimun of .5hr($37.50) for stuff like that. $30 is a whole lot cheaper than an air compressor, strong impact, & the socket needed.

It depends on the labor rate(about 4.0hrs) in your area and parts used(Honda or aftermarket) I rec. Honda parts, www.hondaautomotiveparts.com for all the parts needed. Also a 90,000 mile maint. service wouldn't be a bad idea if maintenance on your car is neglected.

autozone chain wrench $14.99
you'll need the breaker bar though. better make that two with the chain wrench.
