Yeah, thats next on the agenda for my ride. hopefully before winter. A shop in the next town will do custom dual exhaust for $100 to $150 when its all said and done. That includes everything. They basically split it after the cat, put a couple high flow performance mufflers on, and go striaght out the back, with chrome tips of course. I'm basically looking for a good tone, and maybe a few extra horses. i have already sort of opened my intake. My question is if anyone has ever done this, and I was wondering if the sound is good. Is it a deep throaty sound, or more of a rap, or more of a rice burner fart can sound? I would love to get almost a low rumble at idle. That would be so awesome, but I know thats dreaming, expecially with a 3.1, now if it was a 5.7 V8, that would be a different story. Oh, well, any input?

Go with some Cherry bomb Glass packs. they are great sounds. and on my 73 Cheyenne 454 they sound so great. Especially when blown :D Vroom vroom! Glass packs are nice and with the right size pipes can give back pressure to increase torque etc and all that. but bigger pipes i think are HP? i dont remember. but yea get some Glass packs. or even the old school Red hots or w.e they are

Mine came with duals from the factory - not the quiet kind, they appear to be turbo mufflers - they have a nice growl when I get on it. Be careful what you get though - our cars have a tendency to sound raspy between 2000-2500 rpm.

There is usually a huge debate about what brand sounds best on our cars. Flowmaster, magnaflow, thrush, are a few names I know that make high performance mufflers for our cars. If you can find someone who already has them, I say just go with your ears.

You're not going to gain too much by having dual exhaust after the cat, just basically sound and good looks(and a tiny bit of HP). The cat restricts the flow of the exhaust from the headers (not sure how bad on a 3.1 if at all). When i had my '86 Cutlass i ran dual exhaust right from the headers with 2 cats, and i could spin the tires with no prob. Not being able to do it before.

Just my 2 cents though.

hmmm, maybe 2 cats is the way to go, but then i have to mess with computers, cause my car is a 2001 and it is OBD2. What kind of sound did your cutlass make? hopefull more of a deeper sound, I hate the farts that ricers make. Did you cutlass have the 3.1 in it? Thank you

It was a low rumble sound. I had the 5.0L V8 :iceslolan

Don't have it anymore as a result of being rear-ended at a stoplight by a drunk driver doing 50mph.

Hopefully i can attach a pic of what she looked like.

nice. I love the sound of V8's piped, V6's sound OK, but not as nice of a rumble of a V8. Thankyou.

It can be done. My 99 LTZ has dual exhaust.

i am thinking of putting Cherry Bomb Turbo Muffler from Autozone.....just before i buy it, are they any good?...

i am planing to leave the resonator in the car and cut the pipe after it and install the new muffler...

is this the type of muffler i should go for?...

Best Regards

In your '99 are you running 2 cats? If so, is yours factory or after? If after, how'd you get around the 'puter issues?

thanks

hmmmm

id like dual on mine 150 sounds pretty good

Has anyone ever put a 4 inch muffler on it? how does it sound? (sometimes they sound pretty good, other times they sound like farts) :)

dual would be cool though
