yea, those stupid stretching cables....
*put the rear up on jack stands,
*apply two or three clicks on your E-brake.
*find the adjusting nut on the rear side of the equilizer bracket (where the cable "Y"s
*hold the cable stud with one wrench, and turn the adjusting nut with another wrench. (I think 10 or 12mm?)
*do this until you can spin your driver's side wheel in reverse only, and won't spin forward.
*release the E-brake, and insure both wheels spin properly without drag both forward and back.
*drop her, your done.
hope this helps,

Hey thanks
i was hoping it would be that easy, but its always better to ask first of someone who has done it before

You can also keep the rear brakes adjusted by driving in reverse and pulling the E-brake, you may have to make several passes doing this but after you do the cable adjustment as suggested in the previous post this way will help to keep then in an adjusted state so you do not have to climb under the car and adjust them only when they stop working. Also it helps to use the E-brake when parking the car.
This way of adjusting the rears is most effective when the brakes are not too far out of adjustment, I would not try to do it this way if you have just put on new shoes and are trying to get them adjusted. It will take a long time and many reverse passes to get them tuned in.
One other thought, if the cable takes a lot of adjustment via the adjusting nut/stud then you may have to replace the cable. If it adjusts to the end and still is not working then the cable has most likely streched too far and will need replaced.
Good Luck.
