Coolant block drain plug location

:smile: Hello, new member here, I have a question regarding the location of the coolant block drain plug. I have a 93 escort 1.9L, manual trans. I read about this in the Haynes manual, but no reference to the location. Any help would be great. Thanks! I've enjoyed the posts!

Below the exhaust manifold there are 2 freeze plugs in the middle of the block. The drain plug is below the left freeze plug. It's hexagonal and has no head. The heat shield will have to come off to get to it. It's kinda hard to get to. I'd drain and refill the radiator 3 or 4 times with water, letting the engine reach operating temperature in between. Anyway, that's what I did when I flushed the system for new Antifreeze.

there should be a plug at the bottem of your rad by your lower rad hose as well.

its a pain to get too, the hex isnt that big so its easy to damage in old corroded cars, and so on and so forth.

if you're flushing the radiator, i think its easily 10 times easier to buy the 4 dollar prestone flush kit and install that. less time, probably does a better job anyways, less potential for stripped bits and pieces and bloody knuckles.
