P1390 = TIMING BELT SKIPPED 1 TOOTH OR MORE
P0420 = CATALYST 1/1 EFFICIENCY FAILURE

OK how much of a PIA is it to get the timing belt back into spec??? becaue right now I have no problem with it, LOTS of HP, and the idle is smooth I think right now more then before.... And On the 2nd code, I was waiting on that one, since I dont have a cat conv anymore on the car!!!!

If it did skip a tooth, then that would be bad news, but you say the car is running strong. So I am not sure what to think then. The second would be no bother since your cat is removed.

I will swing by AZ after work and get the code read by them, since I need a PS belt... Lost mine on the way to work, I think it walked off the Idler...

If it did skip a tooth, I would have to rip apart everything, wouldnt I , like take the head off again

If it did skip a tooth, I would have to rip apart everything, wouldnt I , like take the head off againIf it skipped a tooth then you mave have some bent valves. You might want to try a compression test before ripping the head off again.

ok I pull the P1390 code it was the same as I looked up last night with the timing skiped 1tooth or more, but the defination I had was "Relationship between Cam and Crank signals not correct"

Have you tried resetting your PCM and see if that helps any? Do you have an aftermarket cam gear/s? I have heard that advancing the timing helps to resolve the code.

I wasnt there at the time my brother put the head on..... so I have no flippen clue, he claims it was DTC, like I said it is running strong, maybe the timing is retarded a little, that why it is throwing the code. I will do a compression check tonight and see if everything there checks out. if the compression is find, should I not worry about that code then?

But the fact is the code probably will not go away either. Eventually you will want to make sure it is at TDC. I have seen alot of cases where people swore up and down they had the alignment correct, but when rechecking their work, they were wrong.

Knowing by brother, and the way he wants to hurry at times, I am sure it is off a little, It is running strong, I will check the compression tonight, I am not worried about the CEL because until I put a new cat on I will have that light on, I am in the process of finding someone with a welder That I can borrow
