Hello everyone, I have a strange question. Does anyone know if it would be possible to switch from a 2.0 DOHC motor from a 5spd Avenger to an H22a Prelude engine? It might sound strange to put a Honda engine into a Dodge, but the h22a's have good power and still get great gas mileage. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!

ive never heard of that being done before... im sure it could be done but it would probably be hard. usually when someone does a swap in an avenger they put a 4g63 in it... my brother just got done putting a turbo on his 420a two days ago. im thinking that with the money it would cost to swap a h22 in that you could get a turbo and forged internals and whatnot for your 420a and run high boost... and still get good gas milage as long as you dont drive like an idiot all over the place. im sure you know that the avenger is a dsm, so practically the same thing as the 2g eclipse... so my question is have you ever heard of a h22 being put in a eclipse or talon? if so that would be a good indication of how much work it would take.

Okay, I'll go with the 4G63. Thanks alot for the information. i know it was a kinda wierd question but i was just wondering because my friend has a prelude and its pretty quick compared to my car. Thanks again.

You have to take into consideration that your car is heavier than his and that you're using a 420A with about 150 hp to pull all that weight. The H22A has about 207hp (that's not for sure so don't quote me on this) but I know that it has more power than the 420A. The problem that you will run into is that even though you swap to the more powerful engine, you will still only be putting out as much power as he is to pull more weight than he has. It's possible to do the conversion but the list of custom fabricated pieces is endless. You would have to create custom shift linkage, and associated parts, engine mounts, custom exaust and intake. You would also have to conver the H22 engine harness to fit into the Avenger. It would be more trouble than it's worth and the money you spend doing it would be better used in other things to create the HP gains you would need to make you faster than the Prelude.
