I've searched the threads and gotten good ideas but i need someone to explain in elementary terms please please .

I have a 97 jimmy that will crank but not turn over. We replaced the starter battery spark plugs and can hear the fuel pump when the key is turned. I know people say to check the fuel pressure but how do you do that? Right now the jimmy is parked in the drive way and we are trying to figure out how to get it started to at least make it to the mechanic. Can anyone help? I would really appreciate it. Thanks-julie
