my friend has a 86 crx (not sure what motor i think maybe it starts with hf) he wants to put another motor in it (his is shot) he wants something from 88 ( do to the ability mod new model motors easier) up will anything bolt up with his current tranny in earlier posts ive read i'm thinking maybe a d16a6....

if not what kind and who on here can sell one fairly cheaply... he's a 16 y/o who makes prolly 70 bucks a week so he can't go to hog wild with cash :) thanks

for starters does he even have fuel injection or is the car carb'd. if its carb'd it will be lots of 70/wk before he'll have enough to convert the car over.

the cheapest thing he could do would prolly be like the 88-91 si motor for 108hp, but most people opt for the DOHC zc for about 700-1000 or so.

I've got an 86 sedan in my garage and it would be a pain to put a 88+ motor in there. First of all those engine bays are tiny, second of all, your motor mounts are way different. the 86 only has 3 motor mounts - 88+ has 4. Personally - I'd sell the car, save up some and buy a 88+ civic - way cheaper and easier.

Yea the mounts are completely differnt on the older motors I'd either go with a different car or try a 1.5L out of an EW1 but they are still kind of gut less

You can swap in the motor from the 86-87 Integra, DOHC and 113 HP. If the CRX is a carb motor now then you will have to convert the car to fuel injection(very hard ) or convert the motor to a carb setup(just as hard). If the CRX is an Si with MPFI then its a pretty easy swap and will be well worth it.
