transfer case encoder motor

How hard is this thing to replace?(in my driveway) Where to buy one? Any tips? (2000 Blazer LT) My trans. case clunks loudly (VERY UGLY CLUNKING) when I engage 4hi,4low or auto 4wd, as if it's trying to engage but not fully engaging. (spline crunching against gear kind of noise) Low miles (20,000) and well cared for. Around town snow and ice driving, no heavy 4 wheeling. Could it be a stripped wheel hub or C.V. joint? Noise worse when turning. Thanx guys!!!

I am thining that you need to take it to the dealer to find out what is going on.

check your vac lines. if your not getting enough your hubs might not be engaging all of the way.
