Won't go into park

I have a 1998 Chevy Silverado with about 125K miles. Never had any problems with it before, but this week the automatic transmission won't change into park. Reverse, Neutral, and Drive will engage, but nothing else will. Is this a easy fix or do I need a professional to look at it. Thanx in advance for any tips.

I had a problem almost similar to yours, but it only happened once. I put the truck in reverse, and let off the brake and nothing happened. And yes the parking brake was FULLY dissengaged. So I pressed the gas, and it just reved, as if it was in park. I just put it in park then back into reverse and it's worked fine ever since. Sorry I can't help.
