sorry but i have to make one more off topic post, lt delete if you wish but painting the frame is worse then keeping it clean, the way every one looks at it is, if you paint it it keeps "bad things" out, like the water, dirt and road grime, and true with a fresh coat, after 100 miles, a rock chips the paint, and now, all the bad things seap into the undercoating, holding the water and grime under the paint, its like the rocker pannel plugs, pull them out and they last longer, why? because even though it does let more water in, it also lets more water out, and it lets more air in, drying quicker, in the winter its good to wash them out every week or two... sorry, my 2 cents, i only look at the underside of vehicals every day

Please reread what we are talking about.

We are using a rust converting spray which chemically converts the rust to paintable primer.

Also, what you are saying about rust spray is completely wrong. I am sorry, but if you think bare metal is better than metal with rust oil spray on it inside the doors and rockers, you got another thing coming. You think I am going to allow water into the rocker panels as a flushing mechanism? What about the salt in that water you have flushing through there?

Washing out the inside of the doors with water? Gimmie a break, I would rather have oil in there displacing unwanted water rather than have water sprayed directly onto the metal.

Comon man, common sense bro and you know this. No one practises what you are saying and you know why, because it is wrong and you are the only one that thinks that way.

You need to do some more research on rust suppression because you somehow think that introducing water in places it shouldn't be is somehow a good thing???!!!!!

I don't think so.

I'll put my truck up against and other 1995 WITHOUT rust spray and you will see the difference.

Well I go to Advance Auto and get two cans of the rust converter as suggested. Next stop car wash. I use the high pressure wash and get the frame really good. Well when I am done I notice that my frame is not rusty, it was just dirty. Really dirty. So I run and return the rust converter and get a cheap thing of degreaser and hit the car wash again and now, as it should be, my frame is black. I guess I just never washed it well enough to realize it was black all along!

regular rust converts that you find in advance/autozone/pepboys etc are crap... Settle for nothing less than POR-15

b4 the 89 dime (cousins) was totaled out, it got flushed weekly, and the rockers were in excellent shape, you get water in there, that is a fact, by having plugs there, you help the water stand, and the only thing you should put on your frame rails is por-15, any sort of underbody spray on the underbody is bad, if you dont beleve me come take a look at the underside of m 89 firebird, when bought, the only thing that had rust proof undercoating on it was the gas tank, and the only thing ive had to replace on the underside is the gas tank, let the vehical breath and the air gets rid of water faster then how detroit made it, and salt disalves into water untill saturation, so in the winter, that wet, slushy shit hitting your vehical is salt water to the max. amount the water can hold, that seeps into places, and with the under coating there, when a crack forms, the salt stays there... in short, por-15 the frame rails, pull the plugs out of the rockers, and leave the underbody alone, not going to argue my point any farther, we see the world differently in this aspect, and im not going to try n' convince any one other wise

BlazerLT

sorry, you are wrong, and I have a rust free underbody that has gone through 11 salt filled canadian winters to prove it.

My other car was never rustproofed and it rotted away in under 8 years.

Anyone saying that protecting exposed metal with a layer of protecting oil is bad needs to go stick there tools outside in the rain and see how that flushing action from the rain works on the metal.

Sorry, but your arguement is ridiculous.

Oil doesn't cause rust.

Heat, salt, moisture causes rust.

Honestly, go get two identical sets of pliars and spray one down with oil and the other don't use anything and set them both outside and see which one starts to rust away first.

Don

Hello
Well, let me tell you a little about my lil black Blazer. if you noticed the brush-grille gaurd on the front.I hit a full grown deer with it going 65 mph, After impact, the deer went flying across the hood and over the windshied. Damages-none. the brush-grille gaurd is from Smittybuilt. it has 5% limo tint.Bald eagle mural
on the back window from Ziebart. nerf bars also Smittybuilt. back bumper nerf bar from Smittybuilt.iwas also bumped from behind at a McDonalds.
i have 30 seperate Led marker lights on this truck, plus led tubes underneath. It also has side window vents.plus sun vizer too.The interior is loaded with a $500 CB radio,$300 police scanner,$300 radar detector.and numerous other little neat gadgets. this ride of mine cruises like a caddy,it has the touring package.i am very proud of my little Blazer, plus i do get a lot of compliments when cruisng down the highway. by the way, you can see me a mile away at night with all the leds on it

Beach Patrol, Cop Car, Work truck, Lobo, Ford F-350, Blazer, Lifted truck, Lowered truck, Forest Patrol, Knight Rider, 18-wheeler, Personal truck, Rice-Rocket, Farm Truck... All rolled into one! These are just some of the thoughts that popped into my head after seeing this One. Everyone's different though, right? :eek7: Don't know if I'd ever get a pizza with every available topping either, if you know what I mean.
