No Brake Lights

My son has a 87 T-Bird. Brake lights just stopped working. We've replace the Stop Light switch and fuses are good. The bulbs light up when the headlights are on. Theres current to both sides of the stop switch. Would one bad bulb, cause all of them not to work?

Different circuit, different part of the bulbs. You should have 3 bulbs on each side. If memory serves, only the outer 2 on each side are brake/turn signal lights. These outer 2 have 2 filiment bulbs. One filiment for each function.

Do the turn signals work on the rear? You possibly have an MFS problem as the power from the brake switch goes through the Multi Function Switch and then to the brake lights.

none of the brake lights work. the turn signals work and the hazards work too.

I had the same problem, and I had to replace the brake light switch. I understand you said you have already replaced it, but I had to replace mine three times because each time I got a new switch, it turned out to be faulty. Either the brake light switch you purchased is faulty, or it may not have neen installed properly.

The switch is easy enough to test with a voltmeter or test light. With the pedal depressed you should have about 12V on both sides of the switch.
