91-93 axle question

Hey guys i was just wondering if there is a difference between 91 and 93 model axles i.e. splines or diameter. My mechanic says that there is but I just wanted to ask the experts. LOL

91-92 Non turbo models 21? spline axles
93+ non turbo and 91-99 turbo have the 23? spline axles
so the 91-92 non turbo have smaller axles than the other cars.
