say good by to my project car. the turbo system is being removed and sold on ebay.
here's the deal:
i've cracked the manifold AGAIN. first time cost me $60 to repair, plus $35 to mill the flanges flat again. now i've got two cracks in it, but luckily no warpage. only problem is the location of the cracks... the welding shop i frequent is estimating $120 to repair.
the radiator is now cracked. seems the heat from the system weakened the plastic endtanks on stock Honda radiators. the car isn't being driven due to pressure loss. why replace when you can upgrade, right? well, a fluidyne radiator is $460 at the cheapest.
the motor features a cracked piston land, which i've been suffering with for a few weeks now. lotsa burned oil and terrible leakdown on cylinder 3. i'm literally running on 3 cylinders and squirting oil from the headgasket, pcv, turbine oil feed, and crankcase breather due to the leakdown pressurising the oiling system.
so, i'm now going all motor for less problems. starting off with replacing the radiator for a fluidyne unit, AEM CAI (which i hacked my old one for the turbo intake), DC Sports header (which i hacked for the turbo downpipe), Skunk2 stage 2 cams, port and polish head with valve job, bored throttlebody, Type-S pistons with thin headgasket (12:1 compression), and OBD I conversion.
let's hope this wont break as quickly or cost me as much in maintenance.

thanks for the sentiment, guys... i'm hoping it all works out.
it was a damn fun setup. the system itself is bulletproof... just my 100,000 mile motor couldnt take it, and i dont have the money to do a proper bottom end build up right now, since i'm separating from the service.
as for my dog, he'll always be Turbo to me :D

Drift,
You mentioned gettinga P&P. About how much increase HP wize do you think that will gain? I am shopping around to do the same. As well do you think I should bore out the TB or buy a larger one. By the way that sux what happened to your lude.

hp increase depends on how the flowbench pans out.
as for what happened, read my first post.

damn drift it seems like everyone and thier moms is toasting thier boosted lude. and those ringlands make me so sick because that happens to everyone and then the stupid fiber reinforced sleeves screw you even more cause your piston choice is zilch after that. i havent gone boost yet but after all the stories as of late i am really considering the n/a route myself. a bottom end buildup on top of the cost of turbo components is just to much money for the great majority of us. and another thing that pisses me off is that a lot of N/A guys arent getting to much from the so called beastly h22. i remember seeing a guy with an almost full n/a build that couldnt break 200whp. and he had some shit done. a set of type s pistons, crower stage 2's with the springs and retainers, port and polish job, euro type r intake manifold altered to fit, a type r throttle body, all the bolt on's you can get. this car is starting to dissapoint me and i may be in the market for a 250z when they are available widespread. or i may just go back to the basics and buy a hatch and do a cr/vtec.
by the way if your looking for spare short blocks or heads check on www.car-part.com. i found a couple heads for 400-500$ and some blocks for about the same. i may just buy another motor and build it on a stand and when its done in a year or so then throw it in and sell the current one or keep it for parts, although like i said im really up in the air about it all right now.
good luck on whatever you do.
