Who else is tired of the Speed channel?
They mind as well make it the NASCAR channel. I mean, even in the off season, NASCAR is on 24/7. And if NASCAR isn't on, its classic car BS where some old dude is riding around with his long lost buddy talking about how great these cars are... Please..
I don't completely intend for these to be insulting or anything, but damn, if these two subjects are so great, then start a separate station for just them. This is similar to ESPN covering a golf event when they have a Golf channel. Its just dumb.
I wouldn't mind flipping on to the Speed channel and seeing D1GP, Formula D, JGTC, F1, WRC, LeMans, CART, those install shows, Two Wheel Tuesday, anything not stock car racing/old guys chatting. And DAMMIT, Top Gear needs to be on Speed too!
And they really need to make a show just about fast ass street cars. IDK about you guys, but I would rather see that than just about anything else. A supra pulling in off the street to lay down 800+whp is just orgasmic. Sorry...
Well throw your opinion in the bowl too. We wanna know what you think about the Speed channel!

What you just said pretty much sums it up...and I know on G4 they switched Formula D for FastLane...WTF...that great fastlanes an alright show but DAMN...its Formula D...you dont get that on any other damn channel...and yea...Formula D,D1GP, JGTC, F1, WRC, LeMans, CART. Should almost all have there own channels or at least there own set times...because...they probably think that the JGTC cars arent as fast as GT class ect cars...but damn you know they would kick vipers and corvettes asses...i think there scared...but maybe thats me...But yea im def hating on the Speed Channel about now..!

Im tired of being like man i wanna watch Speed Channel aww shit its...Nascar...I would love seeing any show with Street Cars be it Imports and Some Domestics... I mean these repetitive stupid shows especially in the of season suck. NASCAR isn't the coolest motorsport there is...It sucks when you have people telling you how fast you can and cant go. Just because the Nascar guys cant really make a good decision that 215MPH is too fast for this 190MPH turn...The wrecks in NASCAR is because theres really no seperation in their power and no parts of a Race like turns to seperate the pack. To me NASCAR is the weakest MOTORSPORT period. Anyone think that Nismo could put out a Nascar car and win?

I think there are street driven cars that could straight up smoke a NASCAR in any given enviroment and be cheaper...
Yea, spike TV has some cool car shows from time to time. Top Gear on Discovery kicks ass too! That British guy that hosts the show is pretty damn funny.

Yeah Top Gear is awsome, the show hosts are pretty damn funny. Anyone saw the episode where they tested Porsche 996, Supercharged Jag and a 645Ci in this really fucking huge wet sand area. That was so freakin awsome I started leaking tears.
On speed TV they still have 5th Gear I think, maybe they took it off though as it stoped appearing on Demand.

In my opinion, Top Gear is the best car show that rates cars, PERIOD. Their doucmentary and visual are just stunning. The way their cameras look and the monologue, and the music..omgggggggggggggg. It just makes it so movie like, or like you're in a dream. I saw the episode where a Evo FQ400 dueled a Mercielago...My jaw was on the floor! someone coulda cam in my house and stole everything right fomr underneath me and I never wouldve noticed, thats how glued that show had me to the TV.

nascar is just sad to me
so much money and potential all gone to waste
once in a while they will go and race on a road course and not only will most of the top drivers refuse to race the road course, the ones that do SUCK. seriously ive seen much better skill in scca racing by FAR. those nascar guys cant even take a REMOTELY decent line through any corner! peter cunningham would just DESTROY all those nascar fools IN HIS TSX!!!!

I beg to differ, atleast I don't think anybody's street engine is going to take 9k rpm constantly for a couple hours over 500miles.............
now there are a couple cars that could post a hot lap or two time that is faster then a nascar, it would also depend on the size of the tire, as nascar limits them small
Actually look how many people set there cars up to do stuff like that...alot of people build there street cars to be able to handle track like circumstances...and they havent rebuilt there motor in years...so i think it is very plausable that there are alot of street cars out there that could take Nascars out...You also have to look at the fact that...they run small blocks...they usually only run 5500 rpm...you take a import that usually runs 7-8k rpm and boosting that rpm up 2k isnt as big of a deal as 3k that a small block has to push more...its all about set up of the motor...reducing valve lash, while reducing rotating mass....simple simple...

u sound like a fag orestes
yeah, that was pretty dumb...
and actually making your motor last that long isn't simple.. and it takes loads of money.
trust me on this, regular street motors or even these "built" import motors(which mainly consist of cams, forged pistons, forged rods) will not take full throttle for hours on end at top speed....
For the Most Part yeah, I think its more because the Imports with their low displacement have to handle much more heat in a much smaller space than a choked up big block.
first off most of you sr20 guys complain of overheating when u abuse it a little bit on the street... guranteed a stock sr20 or even one with forged pistons and rods aftermarket is not going to be able to withstand full throttle top rpm for 500miles straight... you don't really realize what kind of abuse that is. You guys would be overheating after a couple laps....
Most Being??? Retards? Of coarse if you run a Modified SR on a stock KA Radiator a few laps it will get hot. Simple Cooling mods will keep the SR Icy cold in any condition. could it run 500 miles at 300HP per Liter... eh maybe.... but your beloved LS1 would probably shit a brick too after 500miles.
as much as nascar seems like old technology, there is a lot of technology into those cars. Pretty much the motor is the only thing you could consider old tech, pushrods and carb....... and even that is exploited HIGHLY. They put out 700-800hp or so I think at a top engine speed of about 9750rpm's... it really depends on the track, some tracks this season cars have been pushing over 10k rpm on the straights... they usually don't finish the race too good though.........
Fair Enough
Big ass AP brakes, high tech rear end, tranny is old style, tires are new technology, and the aerodynamics are state of the art. Comparing your street/track prepped 240sx to a nascar is like comparing apples to elephants.
Bigass Brakes? not so Much... wideass... yeah sure. Hightech rear end? A panhard or Watts Link will never be High tech. Aero Dynamics? High tech? who are you trying to kid? just because they spend 200Hrs in a wind tunnel trying to figure out what works but still fits in a gay template doesnt mean its high tech... they cant even run undertrays.
if this wasn't true you would see A LOT more little guys running in nascar not sponsored by Budweiser and pepsi..... because any 2k car with 10k of mods would smoke them right? LOL ..... you got a lot to learn.
Yeah... seeing as how the rules would allow that...
a few hot laps on a road course with a modified street car IS WAYYYYYYYYY different then 500miles of full throttle top speed, if you think its not you are seriously dellusional. Many street cars bite the dust doing some hot laps.... engines, brakes, tranny's, body damage, rear ends........... i've seen a lot of stuff on a lot of different cars get just completely destroyed from a couple small factors in just a couple laps. They would stand absolutely no chance in a full nascar race.
Just as any Stock Car would get toasted in JGTC. its stupid to to compare street cars to race cars to other race cars.
as much as you might think its dumb turning only left, and yeah it might not be as fast as a F1 car, but it is still shitloads better then any 240sx owner that has graced this board ever. your trying to say your street production car with some mods is better then a hand built tube frame chassis car, with light body panels and no compromises.... that is a totally different ball game.
Turning Left is Gay. Once Again Comparing a Stock Car to any kind of S Chassis besides a JGTC car is retarded.
IMO Nascar is retarded because of the Rules and the Retards surrounding it "I reckon I like nascar because I can see the car I drive on the street racin up on dem dere banks". I dont Like the Rules because every time a car becomes 1 second faster they restrict what made it one second faster... Case in point - Roush(I think it was Roush anyhoo) that got the engines to rev to 10,000RPM... Snap! thats not gonna fly! so they changed gearing requirements to make that engine impossible to run and everyones back to 9000RPM Then theres the aerodynamics... weak. Chevys were faster one year so they let the fords and dodges take an inch off that plank that they call a spoiler to keep up... thats not Racing thats retarded corperate marketing at its best.

I hate to get into pissing contests but this one is pretty good considering. Anyone like RW240 said SR's dont really get hot when running at RPM as long as proper cooling measures have been taken. And nobody said a SR20 would be able to beat A 700hp small block...but there are motors and cars out there that have the capabalities to "I believe" beat a Nascar...take for instance Skylines...in tuned mode can put out near 800 900hp...and just as reliably as a nascar motor...high reving already and with AWD...or even RWD if you prefer. I am not saying that Nascar doesnt have alot of technology out there...and yes i believe there are regular cars out there that can beat them...no one said a full interior'd car could do it...of course it would be stripped an roll caged just the same as a nascar...And as we have posted many examples JGTC cars could take alot of NASCARs...also look at cars that run the 24hour rolex race...vipers and Corvettes...reaching speeds of 200+ ect...ect...There are to many rules in Nascar...and yes it is to make it competitive...but how can the cars, and technology improve if they keep being taken back...and if one team is dominate it is obviously for a reason...so that team should be penalized becuase if found out something that works? Thats kinda B.S....anywho..i guess my rambling is done until something else is brought up...just remember...no one here to piss someone off...this is just a debate...and a damn good one...keep the debate goin...

NTM you can't even stand on thier banked turns. Only Nascar race I like to watch is Sears Point.
nascar sets rules to keep it competitive, you know what you just can't please people, in F1 when one person is real good and whips everyone's ass everytime by a mile nobody likes it, they call it boring, then somebody tries to make it halfway even so its always a good battle, people say it sucks because there are rules.
I say that is called "Someone being good," AKA he practiced more than anyone else making him better. Wow, to punish him for mastering his trade? That sounds like the opinion of a sore loser to me...
a nascar will smoke the living SHIT out of a s13, s14, or s15 JGTC car... since it would only be making 300 or 500hp, the first straightaway the nascar would leave it in the dust...
Your right.
And I'm with Driftking on this. Except I'm sure I would find a couple full interior cars that could.lol
Lets not forget the definition of racing either:
Race-n. A competition of speed, as in running or riding.
v. raced, rac·ing, rac·es v. tr. -To compete against in a race. (http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=race)
So nowhere in there does it include the ability to perform the same feats. Only does it mention the simple answer of "Who goes the fastest," In no place does it state "with what amount of money," "For how long," "In what temperature," ect ect. Variables, yes. Should they be equal, yes. Can they be? No. So, uh, its who goes the fastest despite anything else. Real racing.

But there were rules to begin with. why do they have to limit the First Place car just so Earl's shitty team can compete. Perhaps thats short sighted but I think it will work itself out in the long run.
the money spent and work gone into exploiting those rules is technology, even if they aren't working on a space shape or a F1 car. Like I said, if it was so easy to win and all the same old lame shit that everyone knows for 50 years, there would be a lot more small timers out there.
So if its a choice between lame technology with lots of competition or a porno for Engineers with a dominant winner I choose the Porno. Its also for the most part why I'm Capitolist. I belive that people should have to work to be competitive not recieve handouts or breaks from a sanctioning body.

"no thats the exact point, you can run things that work, they just have rules that generalize things, you must weigh this, be this tall, have this big of a spoiler, this much displacement, this carb, this roll cage. You take those parts and make them better. Not every car in nascar is the EXACT same, they are different. When michael Schumaker was kicking everyone's ass in F1 a hige majority of the fans that I've seen disliked F1 at that point, thought it was stupid because Schumaker always won, and was going to win, so it took away the fun from it for them, there was no more competitiveness. There were LOTS of people with that opinion.
BTW a street car with a roll cage is still not even close to a tube frame chassis car. Especially when your stating off with a unibody car and adding the cage, a full framed car would be a better starting point for that, as you could tie the cage into the frame and gut the body easier without taking away structural integrity.
I think your glossing over how strict the rules are. its not your car can be this tall or wide its "your car must fit in this template within 1/2in besides two small patches on the front bumper"
There will always be a dominate winner in any form of racing but only for a time. Case in Point - Mario Andretti - he kicked ass at whatever he did untill people figured out how to beat him and then he would place 12th on a good day. the same thing is happening to shumacher (Rules havent slown him down much yet) its just the way it works. A racer will be ahead of the curve and eventually people will copy him to where hes no longer the best of the best and if you have rules that impede this the sport will stagnate (Nascar)

oh btw sr20detpower, i said your wrong only cuz you told me to lol and because its funny when you get all pissed off and defensive about some opinion that other people might not share

Doubt it... people who watch stock car racing do it for A) The Crashes and B) The Tradition. Back in the day I would go so far as to call Nascar cool - with cars that were actually driven off the street or otherwise a car that was not resembeled the car it was run as.
Now its all Tube Frame Bullshit with a Template for Body Size, V6s changing to V8s, FWD changing to RWD. 5spd Autos changing to 4spd Manuals.
Weaksauce
"so you really think a 300hp s13, 14, 15 jgtc would smoke a 700hp+ nascar on say a track like Atlanta? im just trying to grasp how out of touch with reality you are and also how one sided you are as well."
Soo SR20DETPower do you really think a stocker would smoke a JGTC car on a Track like... Mid Ohio. Im just trying to grasp how out of touch with reality you are and also how one sided you are as well.
Pull your head out the Vacuum toolbag... every car has something its built to do.

Alot of people who watch Nascar wouldn't watch JGTC because the drivers aren't white southern baptists.

lets not forget that jgtc has rules too. They make some cars add more weight for being to fast over the rest, and let other cars shed weight.....
Oh well i dont really care. Nascar is a nascar style race. Jgtc is a jgtc style race. There two totally different types of racing with different rules.
I bet the st.louis cardinals can beat the miami dolphins in baseball. Hey they both play on grass, run, and catch balls. Right?? Right??
i bet a fan boat beats a top fuel boat in the everglades! Tell me im wrong.
I dont get why people even think of comparing the two. Is it because there both motorsports?? Well duhhh, but there totally different.
Back to topic yes, they show to much damn nascar on speedvision.

they tested a nascar against some other fast car, even though they left the setup for high speed or whatever which was stupid. my dad loves nascar and ive only been to one race(daytona) but i think its boring as hell. shit theyre going around again!! its like watching a replay. I like watching touring cars like GTs.

These nascar guys are such babies throwing there helmets at the guys that is a "piece of shit" on live tv. And they like to wreck their cars into everyone else under yellow.

And watching Nextel cup cars racing around the road courses is almost as much fun as watching grass grow. The cars are underpowered whales when the right hand turns show up.

dude ur a moron... I would hardly call anything with 750hp and under 4000lbs slow. Plus it doesn't make any difference if they are running ovals or a road course... the road course cars are completely different, not just in settings, but teams have a few cars just for road courses.

I've seen the .8G Lateral for a stock car when its not on a bank... yeah... its that slow.

I'm a moron? Did you know that an F1 car has that much power, lots more downforce, and a third of the weight of a Nextel cup car? Which do you think is gonna be more exciting to watch on tv????

they probably think that the JGTC cars arent as fast as GT class ect cars...but damn you know they would kick vipers and corvettes asses
The one Dodge Viper GTS-R in the American Le Mans Series is an old race car and can't keep up with the two factory Corvette C6-Rs. One of the C6-Rs recently won the GT1 class at Petit Le Mans (9+ hour endurance race at Road Atlanta) and the 24 Hours of Le Mans earlier this year.
