i'll start by saying thanksto the peoplewhohelpedme determine that the LIM is my problem. i got a shop manual today and i am a little confused. are there 2 intake manifolds (upper and lower) or are we talking about the lower gasket on 1 manifold that is giving me the problem.

Hey Mattpiper. Ya, there are two peices on the intake. the bottom one, that sits on the Heads and the block is (hopefully) where the leaks usually happen. it either leaks in the oil, or in to the exhaust ,which the later is better than in the oil.

You may even want to change the oil when ur done to be certain the oils not contaminated. other wise it can mess up the bearings in the motor, not good, very bad  Hope this clarifys. anything else let us know. \,,/

OK Wrong caar.LOL! there is just one intake manifold on the quad 4. it might have a left and right half, but i'm pretty sure it just one. up above u said "upper and lower", so I assumed u ment the V6. I remember from the other post now, duh.
The v6 has two peiced intake, which blow out often.damn reliability. LOL! If you have the manual you should be able to tackle this. If u havnt done this before I'd read through it once or twice before taring down. Just take ur time, you may even use tape on wires/plugs so its easy to get Hooked Up and running. Hope this clarifies things.

so is the manifold a probable cause on the quad also for water in oil and leaking out also

It sounds like the evil head gasket or a cracked head, but with only 53k miles something is suspicious. I recently changed the head and gasket on my 95 quad with 240k miles. Changing a head gasket on a quad is not an overly difficult job, just time consuming and messy. It's also not a job you want to do in your back yard as you probably won't finish it the same day you started it. I started mine at 10am, quit at 8pm, and it took 2 hours the next day to finish it, but it was also 95 out and very humid. If you do end up changing the head gasket, change your timing chain, tensioner and guides as you have to take all that off anyway. Good luck, not trying to discourage you, just want you to be aware of what you are in for....

Water in the oil on the Quad.. Probley is the :evillol: head gasket. Just as skibum said, its a time consuming job with lots of things to remember and disasemble. But dont be discouraged. Just refer to the manual, its ur friend. Good Luck

Back the truck up here!!!!!!!!!
To get the correct information about repairs, you must give us ALL the information so we can give you the CORRECT repair information

So you have a quad 4 engine with water in the oil..well that is a whole different senerio..Those engines are known to blow head gaskets and crack heads.
You have some serious problems, but the good news is "I saved a bunch on car insurance by switching to Gieco" :iceslolan :iceslolan

Seriously, it can be fixed, you will have to send the head off to a machine shop and have it checked for cracks.
