1992 conti trunk problems

the pull down for the trunk does'nt work i rigged the trunk to close manually .now after a while the trunk will not close the mechanism will not engage to catch the latch any suggestions.iv'e taken the latch apart it catches the latch while disassembled but when reattatched i doesn't catch. tha :banghead: nks for any help

On the newer units there's several levers that operate switches, each of these switches lets the assembly know the position of the lid, latch, etc so that it can perform properly and safely.

I don't even know if what your trying to attempt is possible. Your saying you took a known bad (not functioning) pull-down assembly, somehow got it functioning (either automatically, semi-automatically, or static) and now it's not working again.

I'm sure you've done some searches on this problem and found out that you're the only person on Earth to get one of these dead pull-down assemblies to work again.

Everyone else with this problem replaces the assembly, and reports back "I should have done that to begin with"

However, it seems to me, IF you did get it to latch in static mode (all wires disconnected) it should unlatch using the key until you get a replacement assembly.
