Completed - Tamiya Nissan 300ZX Convertible (56K Warning)

Just recently completed, Tamiya Nissan 300ZX Convertible. Kit was old, dated in the early 1990’s, had some bad mold and flash in places, but the kit fitted very well. Painted the body with Halfords Nissan Cherry Red, flocked the carpets with a mix of grey and blacks, sprayed all the parts with various tamiya paints, detailed and washed with Tamiya Enamels. I used Alclad II for the exhaust and engine parts, polished and waxed the entire model and these are the completed pictures.

I should have hinged the hood, didn’t think about it till just a few days ago, and I should have added the engine wires, but I was getting pretty bored of making this car for some strange reason so just wanted to get it completed.

Enjoy.

Wow Thanks for the cool comments. The model is perhaps the best I've built - but this is only my sixth model so still working on techniques etc.

Had a few little problems, so the model is not perfect but looks like I'm getting there. Perhaps next one will the closer to perfection but who knows.

And yep, I do like convertible cars, but I've built too many this year and I was getting bored with it.

Next project is something a little different - Honda F-1RA 272 60's F1 racer. Sig has a link to the progress thread.

Again, thanks for all the comments..

mb this build has turned out awesome!
The finish on the paintwork is excellent, and I'm so going to try that flocking technique when I build my Z.

Look forward to more builds from you!

Thank you for the coments. Captain Mark, I wish you luck with your 300ZX. Keep my build progress bookmarked.. It might help you avoid the problem areas..

The front lights are a bad fit.. They are not "REAL" bad, just don't seat too well. I sanded and cut mine down as much as I could, and they still didn't fit totally flush. The dash is also a problem area. Be careful with it, as it can move around when fixing in place. Use tape to keep it in place as the glue sets.

My next model is as mentioned the Honda F1. I keep raising the level as I build them, hence why at the moment I stick to one build at a time. This time I will atempt to wire an engine.

Thanks again for the comments....

Stunning work, best 300ZX ive seen. A bit of dark detail on the wheel nuts would really stand out.
Well done, Mike :sunglasse

This may seem slightly random, but I have been wondering what the models are sitting on when you take your pictures. It looks like a leather of some sort. It may not be obvious to some people, but depending on the setting, a model car will look more or less realistic. The particular setting of ur car makes it look great!

Could be wrong, but it looks like a patio table to me.

Klutz wins. It's my patio table in my garden. Sadly won't be taking many more pictures from this scene for a few months now. Patio table all packed away for winter months.

Will be back in the spring of 2006..!! until then, it's all indoor shots on either my dining room table, or white paper in the background.
