2001 Rodeo, Good Choice

Heres the Dealio i'm a big chevy fan, been very faithful, However my mom has just purchased a 2001 Rodeo, Now i am a bit worried cause i know if the you know what hits the fan, yours truely will be sweating his fluids out in the hot texas sun to fix it. So in advance i would like to know what kinda problems these things are prone to, No im not the pesimistic(sp?) type i just think i wouldn't be as upset if i knew it was coming, or do like my good ol' gramps used to do and do some sort of upgrade before it caused problems. thanks alot

Welcome aboard. First I would watch the engine oil level like a hawk. The 3.2's can use oil. Try a search for "intake manifold gasket" or "IMG", seach for transmission "range" or "mode" sensor, use ONLY denso spark plugs and OEM alternators. Keep CLEAN ATF in the 4L30E auto trans, and wait 'till you try to find the trans dipstick...OH the list goes on..... Naww, just funnin'. You'll find they are better than the domestic same class trucks (blazer, exploder, durango).

Great trucks with only a couple of small things to watch.

The no dipstick tranny and engine oil maintenance is of the utmost priority with the Isuzu trucks. Quality oil filter(purolator or wix) is a must to avoid piston slap and pinging. The rest of the issues are of lesser importance but neccessary. Like what was said 'read the faq'.
