just added cold ram air

I just added a homemade ram cold air. Hose is going in the spot where the sound resinator was but i was wondering if I should block the hole where it (other end of the air cone) goes into the fender or should I leave it open.

Onlly noticebale difference is on the highway I seem to have better throttlle responce. Wondering if gas mileage willl change ?
