... Well I wouldn't talk about the car like it's some myth. It's not uncommon to see R32 Skylines selling for mid $20,000 or so. They're not out of reach at all.
However, I wouldn't mind seeing a few pictures. Take a few with today's Newspaper on the windshield, just for fun ;)

i could reply to this....or i could let any of the other members do that for me. they know who i am, and what im about.
since your so smart, i bet you didnt know that the skylines have be brought through an RI, then legalized by motorex for street use. otherwise, the car is illegal to be driven on the streets. i bet you also didnt know that motorex was only able to legalize cars from 1990 and up. a year or so ago, the 96+ models were under a hold from the DOT, due to issues with the OBD2 system not performing correctly. but then again, im a n00b that doesnt know what im doing or talking about. only 2 cars have made it out mrex's doors int he past year and a half. hiro is under investigation, actually the company as a whole is under investigation. the cars are not eligible to be brought in under show use unless its a 400R or z tune.....in otherwords the VERY rare cars. it can be brought in for race use....but not legal for street use, and must have a list of the races it is scheduled to attend to. the car must also be out of the country between 6-12 months. im not jealous one bit. i dont have to be. i dont condone (NOR DOES AF, it actually violats the TOS) bringing in cars illegally. cars have been taken, cars have been crushed. those that bring them in illegally are basically stealing from anyone who plans to get them the legit way but thinning out the market of available cars. OH! and sean! no i dont know tydango, i didnt know he was a member of AF, SDU, NF and many others. i didnt know that he did the majority of work on motorex's cars, and was a key employee in the legalization process. i know that he left motorex, and has been working closley with RB motoring to get their petition to get approved by the DOT and NHSTA.
OH!! btw, i almost forgot....

and yes, it was bought 100% legal.

this is all old news thats been posted over the net for the past year.and the DOT stuff you can cut and paste it from the DOT web site.and again old news.show an accual case of a skyline getting taken away.yes and we know about the lotus`s in tampa,if the guy who was importing them didnt have a criminal record to start, and didnt crash one with coke in the car.those owners wouldnt had anything to worry about.they Customs just used that to make an example and hopefully scare everyone

look at a list of any government auction. there have been a bunch impounded. the gvnment then auctions them off for exportation only. trust me dude, you get pulled over, you dont have a US vin, and without a US vin you cant register it as a nissan skyline. you have to register it as something like a modified 240 or something. back to the point, but if you get pulled over, registration checks, cop knows it aint no fuckin 240, looks at the vin, vin matches his theory....asks to see paperwork for the car, no paperwork provided, you can go to jail, or a 250k fine. the car either gets auctioned off, if the car doesnt sell, it gets sent to the crusher.

its just a picture which doesnt mean it was bought 100% legal.unless the G&K epa sticker in under the hood, the cali sticker in the door jam,DOT and customs and epa forms.if this is all true, then you are a sucker that got taken and over paid for a r32 which you can buy for 9k in japan
nismo_power
08-27-2005, 10:04 PM
yea buy it for 10 grand in japan, guess how much shipping costs. depending on if you get a private container, roll on or roll off, it can get up to 1500-3000 dollars. legalization = 16 grand for an r32. so where are we at now.....minnimum of 27.5? what about registration, customs fees, inspection fee's? thats easily another 2 grand when things are said and done. there...29.5. people gotta make a profit right? motorex sold theirs for 30k. they really werent making that much profit, as that was not their main source of income. now that skylines cant be legalized anymore, prices go up. and up and up and up. i paid 33 for mine. i feel i got a pretty good deal considering the circumstances. there was a fellow who bought a 95 GT-R for $55k. they sold from motorex for 45k. a car like this, people dont just let them go for an easy price. me and a few others on here (zedex, razorgtr, bagwanshrirashnish, and others) know a guy on here that got one brought in under corporate sponsorship. too bad the car has to be shipped out eventually though.

dude you dont get it.how you think everyone gets grey market cars into teh country with out an RI and going thre that hassel.call up 1g racing, and have them explain to you.thats how everyone does it.each state has the assembled from parts catigory, and NO its not tited as a kit car.and i got pulled over in my E7 many times.all the care about is that vin on the car matched whats on the reg and insurance card and that its all valid.

... I love it when people talk about Sean Morris like he's a God or some Shit
Look. When a Skyline is imported, it either must be Imported as a Race/Show car (Difficult to obtain, the car must be of some Historic Significance/Technological Significance/Limited Production Number/Anything to set it apart from a normal version), in which case it must be taken away on a flat bed, and can never be driven on US Roads. You must have a list of races that it will attend, pictures, information, the car must be in an available facility for inspection at reasonable times. I've often thought of going this route. However, it wouldn't make much sense, seeming as the car would have to be exported eventually.
Now if you Import the car with intentions to Legalize it... You must have it sent DIRECTLY to an RI with Legalizing capabilities. Or in other words, MotoRex (When they were still in business).
Or... Import it as a parts car, and try to go the 240SX route. I've seen some convincing cars made this way, it's by no means legal, but it is by far the cheapest way. I wouldn't do it though.
There is also the Kit Car method. Import the car in pieces, through seperate 'companies'. Have one company, with 3 branch companies. Import the body to one, the powertrain to the other, suspension to another, and assemble the car under the main company.
Obtain a Kit Car title, and voila... You've an illegal Skyline, congratulations!
The fact is, the only way to obtain a legal Skyline, is by going through MotoRex, or purchasing one that has been through MotoRex.
Otherwise... It's just another illegal Skyline.
Liny... I don't appreciate your statement towards 'us type of people'. We are objective because we have to be, we're simply trying to seperate the Shit from the Gold... That can't be done without picking these things apart.
As of now, I see nothing that proves 1989R32GTR owns a LEGAL Skyline. Not to mention MotoRex couldn't get the '89 GTR Skylines to pass crash test regulations. Which is the largest factor of all.
We're by no means angry that we can't afford one of these mystical super cars... It's an Inline Six, Twin Turbo, AWD... Get over it, it's not that great of a machine. I can build a Civic that can beat them, easily.
This doesn't mean I don't like Skylines... A 1990 Godzilla is one of my dream cars (Of only three or so), but for now, it's kind of pointless to import one, and go through ALL of that trouble. You could have a car of the caliber for half the price. Zed32, FD3S, JZA80, VR-4.
That's just my opinion.

i understand what you are saying. when u get a non MX skyline or a non compliant grey market car you know the risk involved. I had my evo 7 since 02 ,we all do know the risk.and we know the government wont do anything. and if they do, they are not going to spend the $ on coming to get it and crush it.they give you up to 180 days to get ride of it your self. that crushing of cars were for cars that it would had cost more to export it then the value of the car. Instead of congratulating the kid, he had to shoot him down.thats what pisses me off, nismo power is like almost praying for something bad to happen to 89gtr so he can get his jollies.
and when you do the assemble from parts catigory,i help 5 people with this so far, it get titled for what it is and with its vin # stamped on the firewall. well that’s how the states i did it in is done.i cant say for the mid to west cost states. I know UT,AZ and NV re-vins the car but its still names what it is and not a 240.and it doesn’t say kit car on them. like i said im going by the states ive done it in and those states are NY,NJ,Fl,KY

im hoping his car gets taken away, because plain and simple.....you bring the car in illegally, you dont deserve the right to own one. when you own a skyline, legally or not, you represent all of us. its not only embarassing yourself because like you said to me cant afford one the right way, its giving us all a bad name.

dude, you dont seem to get it through your head that im not jealous. i know how much i paid, and i paid that price for a LEGAL skyline. if i wanted an illegal car it would be very easy for me to get. i lie 3 hours from the canadian boarder. its not that hard for me to go buy one for 12 grand, and just drive it on home with canadian plates. im not giving the line ownes a bad name, because i paid for mine fair and square. like i said earlier, i dont condone illegal impotation of cars. thats the whole reason this whole article has shown this. and where are his picturs? this thread has hit 2 pages, and we still havent heard back from the guy yet about the pictures. i dont need to give congratulations to a kid that does get things the right way.
