the fitting joining the gas line coming out of the gas tank and the gas line that runs forward to the engine dripping slowly but steadily when pump is running and harder when engine is running.
chrysler garage says around $300.00 to replace fitting. fitting in open under car just in front of the spare tire and next to the gas tank. when i questioned why so high they said thats what it costs its a complicated job.
I am not a mechanic at all. maybe they are right. but it looks to me like its just a brass junction fitting joining mulitple tubes.
anyway, someone told me to get work sheets to show how to replace gas tank this would give me direction on possibly changing it myself, or replacing section with hig pressure hydraulic hose.
Any help you can give will be wonderful. any help to find on-line work sheets would also be super. i don't even know where on line to look for those.
Thanks in advance. And be sure i'll put in a good word for you with santa this year.

Not saying this is the right way to handle it but I used the same size rubber hose on an old dakota I had. Removed the bad tubing. slid the hose on, clamped it and made sure it was tied back out of the way so it couldn't rub on any moving parts. Never had a problem afterwards. I'm sure there is some safety issues....???... but I never had a problem.

My 92 caravan has fuel injection which means it has high fuel pressure from the pump and it came from the factory with the fuel filter hooked in line with rubber hose and clamps.
If the factory considers it safe to do that I would consider it safe to use a good quality rubber fuel hose as long as it is not in an area that will be damaged by something such as near heat or such. If you are worried about leaks, make the hose slide on the tubing far enough to put 2 clamps on each end.

I assume you took 2 box end wrenches and tried to tighten the fitting. Subsituting hydraulic hose for gasoline service would not be wise. You did not mention it but what kind of tubing is it? Rubber, metal?. Also can you buy stock tubing at the dealer and the fittings? A fitting joining two identical types of tubing is called a union.
