Can anyone help me with my car antenna. Today when I parked the car, I heard this humming from the trunk and noticed the antenna would not go down. I took the fuse #20 out, but it still didn't go down. Any help would be appreciated. My wife says these forums are great!
Thanks

The nylon gears that raise/lower the antenna may have stripped or the nylon cable that runs inside of the antenna may have broke. You can get a replacement at your local junk yard. Be sure to ask them to allow you to test the antenna before buying it (hook it up to a 12V battery and see if it goes all the way up and down).

I also had the exact same problem with my 89 LeSabre. I just let it hum and hum and hum. It eventually burnt out the little motor. My antenna is still up and the radio works fine, it just doesn't go down. I don't think the newer LeSabre's antenna's go up or down anymore.

I guess your choices are that you can fix it, replace it with a whip style or let the car wash rip it off for you. :uhoh:

You antenna is UP. It works. I had this on a 93 LeSabre. Ice had kept it from going down and after 9 years it quit. The motor wouldn't turn off. I disconnected the snap connector at the antenna controls inside the trunk and forgot about it.
Cheaper method.
