Did GM produce a stock 4th gen SS Camaro with the 425 HP 383cid engine in it?
If so what is the vin code that would denote that engine option?

um no, all v8 4th gens either had the lt1 (93-97) or the ls1(98-02), i believe.

I don't recall any production car with a 383...

Actually the one I saw was a Canary Yellow SS and had a black decal stipe package .
The stripe on the side started wide infront of the front wheel well came up over the well and tapered to nothing on the door. The hood scoop was also decaled in black and had 425HP on there and that stripe continued over the roof panel and onto the deck.
I was curious if that was a production car or a modified version.

I would sure love to get my hands on one that had a 383 in it - if it was stock

I looked at Bergers site and that was what i saw. There are 2 remaining cars for sale (1) is the Hot Rod Edition convertible and they claim to have just lowered the price - its now just a mere 34,995(was 44,995)
and (2) is a "Dick Harrell" signature car in progress for a cool 85,000
Oh well, as much as i would LOVE to have one of those it is just a little out of reach.
Maybe I should reconsider the 94 Z28 car i found with the blown engine and go the route and build one to suit me.

In doing a search on google i found an article about one like what i was originally speaking of at the Hot Rod Magazine 2003 Power Tour in Nashville
http://hotrod.com/2003powertour/113_day_1/
It says there are only 69 of these in existance.

Dont forget about the Calloway Camaros, only difference I could see by looking was on the back instead of having CAMARO inbedded in the plastic it said CALLOWAY

Callaway Camaros look weird, the headlights are the thing that really bother me.

the bergers didnt have 383's, they had 350's, they did other mods to free up hp, but left the shortblock alone to keep the factory warranty in place.
