I'm looking at buying my dad's Taurus it's a 1997 has much tranny trouble, but he is goingto get it rebuilt before he sells it to me (if i want it) my question is how long with this car last me? it has about 140000km on it and the body of the car looks next to new (he waxes ALLOT lol) and one other question the car has a CD changer, but it's in the trunk of all places, how hard/epensive is it to get one in the glove box or somewhere more convienient, and I don't want to go with the aftermarket dash kit because this car has the fully automatic climate control which i will be keeping, and the sound system itself is already really impressive (it has the Mach system) so thats about all for now, thanks for your input!

Well to put the changer in the dash ( or closer to the radio) could be an issue. The main reason the changer is in the trunk is because the radio tuner is in the trunk. Yep, the panel in the car is actually just a control panel with the tuner in the trunk. Its located on the driverside near the wheelwell. You could do it but you would have to run wires from the trunk to its new location. It can be done, but it wont be easy.

is the rebuilt tranny better better than the one ford supplied? assuming that ford did somthing wrong, whould the rebuild solve the mistakes that ford made with the tranny?
