Mustang GT vs. GTO

Well this would be my first street racing story and i hope you like it....and if not....SHADDUP!!

Okay so me and one of my buddies (owns 1995 2.3 SOHC Grand Am) were doing some hard gravel road driving....for all the people that live out in the boondocks you know what that's about....hitting the e-brake on every possible corner, getting that sumbitch as sideways as possible :evillol: ...So i'm driving the Monte pretty hard and eventually we get on this long stretch of road and there was a major highway intersecting it so i just got a nice loooong slide from the gravel on the the pavement...my friend did the same...but with less finesse :p ...so we decide we're going to head to mankato (the closest mall within 50 miles) and check out the sports store there and see if they have any boxing heavy bags and then afterward maybe head to the local Mickey D's later on because that is where all the wannabe street racers hang out....so we're heading towards mankato and have to go on this on ramp so i give the car about 3/4 throttle to get to highway speed and let off........REEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!....a brand new GTO flies by me like i was standing still :icon16: .....that thing was so loud it made my brain itch...and assuming form the *ree* sound it was supercharged?..sweet!!..the GTO startes bobbing and weaving through the lanes....there was probably a total of 12 cars on the highway because it was 2AM...so he was only really putting himself in danger, i decide to get into persuit mode and play a little cat and mouse....so i go WOT and fly by him going about 115 and that must've caught his attention, all of a sudden i see the GTO's headlights lurch vertical a little bit and see him hauling ass past me....my friend and i laughed our asses off like giddy little school girls...the guy after flying by slows down and waves us to exit on the next off ramp and we do so....we end up pulling into a super america and chatting it up a little bit...the guy said he kinda laughed when i flew by and i told him about my built 355 camaro that i used to have...if only the engine wouldn't have blown it would've been a good race between the GTO and I...but oh well...so as we're talking about this and that, a 1999-2004ish Mustang GT pulls up to us and asked Rick (the GTO dude) if he wanted to race....

Mustang Dude: Hey man, nice ride you got there. You race any?

GTO Dude: Ehhhh, not really. I just like how the car looks, not a real big racer....

Mustang Dude: Oh okay, well maybe this'll be your night man....how much horsepower do those things have?

GTO Dude: *Smiles* i think around 300hp or so....i'm not sure

Mustang Dude: oh hell yeah, nice....you want to do a couple of runs against my mustang? i've got some performance goodies on here and am probably running about 300hp too...whaddya say? 200 bucks?

GTO Dude: Eh, sure what the fuck, i'll probably lose but whatever it'll be fun....

Mustang dude: well i have a passenger so you're gonna need one man, it's only fair...

GTO Dude: *Looks at me* You want to tag along? You heard the man..."it's only fair" *smiling again*....

Me: duhhhhhhh uhhhhhh ok!!!

GTO dude: Alright lets go!

Mustang dude: Okay i'll meet you out on the highway...we'll go from 60!

So Rick and I get into his car, and i just told my buddy to follow us to the highway and watch...so we get out on the highway and the mustang honks us down...3...2...1...REEEEEEEEEEE!!!! the mustang went backwards like he was in reverse...it was crazy...that GTO was fast as Hell!! by 80 2 car lengths...by 100 5 car lengths....by 120 two BUSlengths....shutdown at about 125......the mustang guy pulls up next to us smiling and says "you really don't have 300hp do you?".....rick says "oops...my bad....now give me my money...*laughs*"....so they exchange money back at super america and chat it up a little bit and then i had to go home.....one of the best nights of my life so far.....i need to get rid of my car damn it....i miss the old camaro days..... :disappoin

Cliff Notes: did some gravel road driving, encountered a S/C GTO, GTO drivers lie about horsepower, GTO guy whoops mustang guy for money....good times...

i might have paid, then laid him out...

He just got worked, plain and simple. It was his fault for tossing down 200 against a car that he knew NOTHING about. The mustang driver has nobody to be upset with but himself for that :biggrin: . I've never seen a blown gto in person but I've been around blown ls1's (unless this one was an 05 and has the ls2) and they're deffinately badass.

Gotta love it... 5.7 LS1 > 4.6 stang

and if your pals drivin a 6.0 LS2 all the merrier!

I really really want an 05 GTO more than words can say. If I'm lucky I'll be a proud owner of a 3.8 Maro sometime during college, if not I might settle for a cheaper, slower, and easier to insure 'stang till I'm out in the work force and making big bucks.

I sat in an 04 GTO at the DC autoshow a while back and I was in love. Silver 6 spd with a burgundy / maroon leather interior..

Just "flicking" it will get my LX completely sideways....... its way fun. Especially when you do it right next to your buddy in an 05 Silverado (Imagine the scene with two drifters drifting next to eachother lol)

Run all seasons with some 4.30's and do that on the street

why would anyone in a mustang wanna race a brand new gto rated @ 400 hp, unless they dont know how much hp gtos comes stock, which is rare and weird for a stang owner, i thought every american muscle car owner would know its counterparts, anyways, if the mustang guy was smart, he should've backed off the race, you can tell the gto guy's confident in his car right away, especially racing on the highway, if i was so anxious to lose $200 to a car i know i would lose to already, i rather race the gto from the dug out, the gto weights about 500 lbs more (assuming the stang was 04' or under)

either i'm insane or maybe $200 dollars is not a lot to you guys nor the stang owner, u guys must be filthy rich or something, thats just my opinion, should've never raced that gto, unless it was like a stang cobra, now thats a different story...-.-

If he's riding a stang I'm sure he feels a $200 hit, if he was rich he wouldn't be driving one of the weakest sportscar V8s on the market.

Shaddup j00! :mad: .....i think that i have a disadvantange with my fwd z34....believe me i've tried many times to crank that shit and get it sideways but i only manage to have massive understeer...lol.....and the GTO was an 05...had the hood scoops and everything....i thought that the mustang owner would've backed off on just the hood scoops alone....being the defining difference between the Ls1 and LS2 GTO's....oh well at least the mustang guy was cool about it and didn't want to fight afterward or anything....Rick was probably 5'8'' 150 vs. the mustang guy who was 6' 2'' and probably 190....not a fair fight....but good times nonetheless....

i've seen a cobra in action...that was definitely a GT....a cobra would've hung alot better than that GT....plus when we were chatting afterwards i saw no "Cobra" badges, stickers, stitching etc....

Initially I thought we were talking about the Japanese badge on my beloved VR4 (GTO) but it turned out to be an entertaining story anyway :smokin:

LoL he pretty much never has. :rofl: - that's great! "Zen Master". Sometimes he's 100% un-decipherable. It'd be like trying to listen to Yoda, had he actually something wise to say. But the problem is, usually after you do decipher it, it's still just stupid. :icon16:
