Can anybody tell me how to change the weatherstripping on a '91 Camaro.I cant afford to have the local guys do it, and would like to try it myself as I completely restored this car inside and out, and this is the last thing that needs fixing.Any advise is appreciated. Thanks

Did this a month ago. The weatherstripping around the rear hatch is a breeze, should take about 5 min. to take off the old stuff, and put the new piece on.

The doors are more of a pain. There are a few push in plastic retainers (could be screws) at the ends of the weatherstripping both on the door, and on the roof rail. Pull off the old weatherstipping. Try to peel off as much as you can in one piece, as it will make prep for the new stuff easier. After having pulled off all you can, grab something to scrap off the excess on the body, door, and inside the track on the roof. Clean the surfaces throughly, the cleaner the surfaces are, the better adhesion you will have.

Couple tips:

You can find reproduction weatherstripping for considerably cheaper than the OEM stuff, but it isn't molded exactly the same, and harder to create a near-perfect seal. I would spend the extra and get the OEM product.

Pay attention to how the weatherstripping fits in the track, and where the window butts up against it, prior to removal.

Pick up a couple tubes of a good weatherstipping adhesive at your local parts store. Follow the directions. Many specify to apply a thin layer of the adhesive to both surfaces, allow to dry, then to apply another bead and start placing the weatherstripping. Work with a small section at a time, as the adhesive drys fast.
