Bypassing the AC Compressor/ Serpentine Belt

A shorter Serpentine Belt is needed to bypass the Aurora's AC Compressor. I believe the original belt is 83.5". The shorter belt is 13/16"x74.5" The gates product code is K060739. Dayco version of the gates belt comes in at 74", which would work, but be a very tight fit.

When I had my A/C compressor replaced I was told that I could not bypass the A/C compressor because it worked as the idler pulley also. Have you actually done this with success?

Yes.. I it worked great....It was an easy in an out operation... Of course the AC Compressor is not operating anymore, but it sure is nice not having it make horrible noises...

can someone post a diagram of how the belt should be installed to bypass the compressor. Has anyone else done this.....

I had great success with replacing my belt with a shorter one. It was not an easy job routing the belt.

can you post a diagram showing how it should be routed? or explain?

This thread was a huge help. Thanks jpletsch. The Gates part works perfectly. As for the belt routing, just follow the standard routing and skip the compressor. I think the Dayco part will work too. There was a bit of slack in the Gates belt, probalby 1/2" at least with the tensioner fully released. The guy at the parts store told me that Gates measures their belts by outside length and Dayco uses and inside measurement so they might actually be the same. At any rate I didn't have the 250.00 for a compressor so the 40 dollar belt was my only choice.
