sorry for the long message, wanted to give as much info as possible to get my problem solved i have a 99 dodge ram 1500 4x4 ext cab wth a 5.9, when im driving along, it quits running, after about an hour it will start and run again sometimes it will go a few miles and sometimes it wont go a block before stopping again, i put a new fuel pump on it yesturday and it is still doing the same thing, when i drive it in the mornings it seems to run fine, but in the afternoons, it does the above mentioned when it stops and i try to start it ,none of the guages work and after about an hour i turn the key over and the guages work fine and thats how i know it will start , its almost like it has to cool down before it will start,i have been told it may be vapor locked but have been told that they dont vapor lock anymore, also have been told ,it could be the ignition module and have been told that my truck doesnt have an ignition module, that the computer takes care of the ignition, have also been told that the coil pickup or (something to that nature) in the distributor could be the problem asides from putting 260 bucks down the drain for a fuel pump that i didnt need, has anyone run accross anything in the nature of the problem i have ?that can help me with fixing my problem or how to pin down on what the problem is so that i can minimize my expenses i sure would appreciate it a bunch , thank you for your time,

I had the exact same problem and finally took it to the dealer. It was the computer ($900.00 + dollars). The dealership said that part was under warranty, I have a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 4wd 5.2 liter. Guess this is a factory type warranty, because I had no warranty. Take it to the dealership and have them check it, they should not charge you anything to replace it, they didnt charge me to replace it. Oh, and dont feel bad I put a new fuel pump in my truck too.
