Problem installing weather stripping on door windows

I finally located new weather stripping for my 1986 Grand AM. I removed the inside door panel, removed the rearview mirror and found the screw at the front of the door to release the strip, pulled the strrip off to discover another screw under a rubber seal at the rear of the door. Unfortunately the power glass window will not lower enough to clear the screw to remove it. However diligence paid off and I got the screw out, now I need to get the screw back into the new strip. The power window works by running a notched teflon band through a cog that slides through a track to raise and lower the bottom window support. The notched telflon strip is anchored in a plastic base mounted inside the door and is pressed onto 4 slightly oversized pins which halt the window at the designated stop point. I tried to release the teflon strip from the anchor by pushing it off the pins, but it is on real tight and will not release.
Does anyone know of a way to get the glass to lower another half inch to allow the replacement of the screw in the weather strip?
